Is This Organization Serious About winning Or Is It All About The Benjamin's?
#1
Why aren't the Bengals even considering or interviewing the top candidates for DC like Robert Saleh or Dennis Allen? Is it because they would command more money than the Bengals are willing to pay? They haven't hired a big name coach and this is the perfect time to do so with the offense clicking on all cylinders. The window is here and all the front office seems to be doing is counting pennies instead of putting a serious contender together.

It's one thing if these coaches have no interest coming but to dismiss them without any consideration is ridiculous. This window is open and the front office has alot of things it NEEDS to do right this off season with re-signing the big guys on this team, releasing players to make room for better defensive players and most importantly getting a quality defensive coach to run that side successfully.

Action or lack of actions speak volumes. Get a top defensive coach singed that will finally steer this defense in the right direction.

They could have their eye on someone or they're waiting for the playoffs to end before they reach out to coordinators.

We also just let go of Lou, so I'm not panicking yet.

I'm sure that Zac is in conversations with the front office about who they could potentially bring in.

They also could be waiting to see what free agents they can bring back or bring in, or who they can draft, to see which coordinator's scheme can work best with the players we have.

I would hope it would be the other way around.

Get the guy they like and let him choose what players to go after in free agency that fits the scheme.

Who knows what the Bengals will do? Just glad they are doing something!

They are serious about winning, they just want to win their way.

I would have definitely taken a SB win, but a win would have locked in the MB way for the next 50 years....

Thing is they need the new coaches BEFORE Free Agency as the new coaches will be determining the defensive and blocking schemes and scheme fit is crucial.

Neither you, I, nor anyone else not working in the front office have a clue what is going on right now. They could already be in talks with someone. They've already announced their Rooney Rule interviews to get those out of the way. They may have reached out and found mutual interest, or may have been told no. Or, they could have their eye on someone specific who they can't talk to yet. But of course, let's not give them the benefit of the doubt and just act like they are sitting on their hands.

Yeah, they totally deserve the benefit of the doubt after having to hire their 5th choice last time. Rolleyes

This right here.  NO doubt they want to win, the old man is just stubborn about winning "his way"

Re-invent that wheel, Bengals!

Round just wasn't a good enough shape!!!

This would be just about the dumbest thing a sports franchise could ever do. Wait until May or June to hire your coordinators? ?

Sled said it well. It takes 2 to conduct and interview. We have no idea if Saleh or others said no. A reporter reports the Bengals will not interview a candidate and many jump to Bengals FO is cheap, and Bengals made decision.

I hope we get a great DC and OL coach. I don't care if he breaks the bank, or team hires a cheaper option. They will be judged on success.

It amazes me fans think MB and the FO does not want to win. How does losing benefit them financially or expanding their fan base both here and abroad as the NFL expands internationally.

I don't think any employee wakes up and says I want to fail today.

The Bengals made the move firing 4 coaches who underperformed, now hope they make great hires to improve the defense and the OL in 2025 and beyond.

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

The last time ZT was a brand-new head coach with Andy Dalton as QB. The past is not the present or the future. We now have an offense with Burrow that is scoring enough to win 12 games with an average defense.  You have to keep up....

Someone like Saleh isn't going to interview for a DC position until it is painfully clear he isn't going to get a HC offer

All hopes turn to next year

If they knew anything about Mike Brown, they would know he desperately wants to win a Super Bowl before he dies. It's not a lack of want, he's just not his Dad.

You can want something, yet be 100% impractical in how you ever want to achieve it.  Millions of people want to start their own businesses, a fraction do and succeed.

Also, in Losing, which Mike Brown has been very proficient at in his years as owner, he still makes a ton of money.  So, why would he care any way?

Again, you assume money is the motivator. I was motivated by money. Once I got comfortable money no longer was a motivator.

MB has been rich for a very long time and yet it appears he does not have a lavish lifestyle like many owners of NFL teams.

You also assume MB calls the shots. I don't know if he does or not, neither do you.

People motivated by money want to make more money. In the NFL, winning will create more revenue, losing will devalue your team. Bengals have 4 winning seasons in a row, a Super Bowl loss (won AFC) and a loss in an AFC championship game to Super Bowl winner KC. Help me understand how Bengals are losers the past 4 years.
