Brown's GM: Watson had setback in achilles recovery
#1
Andrew Berry told reporters that Watson has had a setback in his Achilles recovery and while it is too early to know for sure, his availability for all of the 2025 season is in doubt.

Hopefully they draft a quarterback and not take Hunter.

The are generating an excuse for taking a QB 2nd overall while justifying keeping Watson on the roster for a reason outside of not being willing to take his cap hit.

The heck with Cleveland.  THIS is BENGALS SITE.   Not Browns or Steelers or Ravens Site.

I said it at the time,  I was told not to hurt Browns Fans feelings.  There is a movie Draft Day where Kevin Costner runs Cleveland and trades off their top picks for the next 3 years.  The real Browns actually did that to get Watson.  I said Houston just made out like bandits.  I said watch Houston become tough and watch Cleveland flounder.  They gave up way too much to get Watson.  Now going into 2025, Cleveland has way too much money tied up in all these quarterbacks and none of them are any good.

Cleveland is a revolving door of coaches and quarterbacks never getting anywhere.  I like that Bengals are not.  As Sam Wyche said, " Remember, You don't live in Cleveland ".

Watson was a mistake.  Mayfield was better.  Flacco was better.  On that trade, Houston got real good and Cleveland only got worse.  Houston played Cleveland like suckers.

Oh Yes, GO BENGALS

^This, or something akin.

According to my son (huge Browns fan) the message board chatter is all abuzz today with the thoughts that Cleveland will be excused from Jack Shack King's salary, due to medical. The team has $50M insurance on his salary. According to my son, the 'fan vibe' is that they'll go after Sam Darnold and offer him 3/$75M.

The setback was that he tore that same achilles tendon a second time and had surgery yesterday.

Sounds like it was a second tear of the Achilles.

Watson has almost certainly played his last game for Cleveland. If not in the NFL.

The Browns should just play moneyball this upcoming year. You can cut Watson and lose one year or you can keep him and lose 2.

They should sell their draft pick to a team willing to pay a large part of Watson's contract and bring in Kirk Cousins.

Sorry your son is a Browns fan.  Ninja

Donald will get closer to 35 million a year minimum in my opinion as bad QB draft and too many QB needy teams.

Browns
Colts (GM not happy with Richardson durability)
Raiders
Titans
Vikings
Jets (yes Jets)
Giants
Steelers

Jags - Is Lawrence viable to get them to the playoffs?

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

Darnold would provide instant stability to a Browns team that is just floating leeward. To be honest, I don't want the Browns to land Darnold, as that would make them instantly better.

And if you don't believe that, just look at Baker Mayfield. He's doing fine these days, with a team that actually wants him around.

That is true. I would say every other QB died there, and they basically killed Baker by trading him. Lol

They’re supposedly going to “aggressively pursue” Kirk Cousins.
