If I were a coach in the running for the Bengals DC job I would jump at the chance. The offense is already there. All a DC has to do is put the defense in place, hire good coordinators and keep the opposition from scoring more than 20 points or so.
A chance to go to the playoffs with JB, Chase, Trey?? A no brainer. Use this position as a spring board for a HC job if successful.
I think the Bengals are in a good position : please, FO, don't blow it

I think their serious about both but they are also in it for control. The truth is the Brown/Blackburn regime has never gotten over the Art Model takeover of the Browns. This is their franchise and they are hell bent on doing things their way.

Their way has won at just less than a 42% clip during Mike’s reign. Their way is suboptimal. While the Bengals have four winning seasons in a row, they’ve only had 10 winning seasons under Mike’s tenure as owner/GM.
Through 2024
Mike Brown Owner/GM record: 34 years 232-311-4 .419 winning pct.
Playoff Record: 5-9 .357 winning pct.
Zac Taylor coaching record: 6 years 46-52-1 .470 winning pct.
Playoff Record: 5-2 .714 winning pct.

If they hire Eberflus, that is a good sign.

If this organization was actually all about the benjamins, they probably would have moved the franchise by now to a bigger market, or at least done more to try to draw in more $$.
Mike Brown wants to win, but he has some very old-school (outdated) philosophies that a majority of the league doesn't have anymore.
I wasn't able to find Troy Blackburn's age, but Katie is 59 years old, so by the time the reins are ready to be handed to someone else, I don't know if it would actually go to Katie/Troy. They may decide to pass it onto Elizabeth/Caroline instead.
Katie/Troy seem more likely to continue the ways of Mike Brown, but I think Elizabeth/Caroline would have a more modern approach, as we're seeing with some of the other things that have changed since they've gotten more involved.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
