Seems a bit of a stretch to me, but his opinion is his opinion.
https://titanswire.usatoday.com/2025/02/02/tennessee-titans-brian-callahan-compares-shedeur-sanders-joe-burrow/
Quote:Last week, the Tennessee Titans sent a contingent of executives to the East-West Shrine Bowl in Frisco, Texas.
The biggest talk of the week is the conversations between Titans’ brass and Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Sanders is one of the top draft prospects in 2025 and is expected to be in consideration for the Titans’ number one pick.
The Titans began their evaluation process in Texas, and Brian Callahan told ESPN there are three things he looks for in a quarterback: decision-making, timing, and accuracy. When explaining why those three things are important, Callahan compared Sanders to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
“People had questions about Burrow’s arm strength in general coming out,” Callahan said. “One of the things that makes Joe so unique, and I think you can probably put Shedeur in the same conversation. … They anticipate when they throw it, they have the timing and accuracy on top of it. That makes up for the arm strength.
“Those things are how you make up for maybe not having the biggest arm. If you’re throwing on time and putting a ball when and where you’re supposed to go, you’re not going to have too many problems.”
Being compared to Joe Burrow, who is currently one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, is high praise for an incoming prospect. Burrow wasn’t expected to have immediate success when the Bengals drafted him, but he broke a few rookie single-game records before injuring his knee and ending his rookie season early. Since then, Burrow is consistently one of the top-performing quarterbacks each year in the NFL.
Sanders’ arm strength isn’t necessarily in question, but his decision-making is. He is accurate and can time his throws well, but only when he’s not holding on to the ball too long. He has a tendency to take unnecessary sacks, which is something he can’t afford to do in the NFL. However, that is an area that is coachable, so if Callahan and Borgonzi think he’s got enough of what it takes, Sanders will likely remain on their board of potential candidates for the top pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

I would ask Callahan to please list the number of big games Sanders has won? The answer is zero! He's fearless and has really good mechanics but there are certainly serious questions around his leadership and his ability to perform against good teams. He appears to be a bust in the making. Maybe Callahan is spewing this b.s. to entice some team to trade up to the Titans #1 spot.

I was taking a quick glance through these posts and thought you wrote something about writing poetry...

Also, before anyone gets too bent out of shape, Callahan wasn't comparing Sanders to Burrow. He was comparing one of Sanders traits (things that no single QB owns to themselves) to what Burrow does.

If you don't like Shedeur Sanders
He don't like you too.

I've seen periods of play where Sanders looks composed, quick thinking and capable of making good decisions on the fly, I just haven't seen enough to mention him in the same sentence as Joe Burrow. FWIW, I give Deion a lot of crap for being a "Hype Vibe Merchant", but I do admire the way he demands that his players be disciplined, accountable and uphold academic standards. So that does tell me that if Shedeur has the physical talent to work in the NFL, he'll likely be smart, coachable and fully capable/worthy of developing.

Right
I've haven't seen much tape on him either. But some of the knocks on him if he was in the pros are pretty big. Not much escapibility, holds ball to long and takes big sacks, over confident in throws off platform and so on.
I'd guess he's going to need some time learning to reach NFL starter level, let alone Burrow level.

I see Brian was talking about traits, but I still don't see it. Burrow is so far superior with his accuracy. Shedeur is far superior
athletically and that is about it. I think Shedeur might be good in the NFL, but I don't think he will be a Jayden Daniels or
anything like Burrow because he doesn't win the big games, he isn't clutch like these 2 LSU QB's IMO.
I know some were saying Burrow wasn't clutch this year, he wasn't as much as I would of liked but he had such a terrible
Defense he had to be clutch time and time again, not easy. Need a Defense that makes a stop once in a while to help your
QB out. Shedeur had a bad Defense too though, so there is that, bad tackling from a Deion team? No way lol

Well sure....they're both NFL QBs. They're like twins of course.

Maybe Brain Callahan (see what I did there? ) is trying to drum up interest for another team to trade up for the number 1 pick? "Hey all this guy that we really really really like is a lot like Burrow."

They aired nearly every Colorado football game here in the pan-handle this season. Deion is big shit in FSU country. Ts, I think Sunset's evaluation is solid. Sometimes he looks great and other times he doesn't. He was trying to do a little too much for his daddy, I think. The coaches, opposing D-Linemen, and LBs will teach him to get rid of it at this level.

That’s what I got too
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Both won the Heisman and won big games. Anyone who seriously watched Daniels knew he was going to succeed in the NFL..perhaps not to the degree we saw in his rookie year but he was an obvious top 3 talent which Sanders is clearly not.

Not me! I made sure to let all of my friends that are Browns fans know that he would be a monster to stop in their offense. He was my #1 draft choice. I still think the Bears were stupid for passing on him, and if the Browns hadn't of shit the bed with Watson they could have had him.

Iv watched every Burrow snap since his last year at LSU and i watched every Shedeur Sanders snap after he left Jackson State and Iv said this for the last 2 years
The way he goes thru progressions, the way he navigates the pocket, the way he throws timing routes, the way he values deeper passes before short ones, the issue Burrow had early in his career with refusing to check down to the RB, EVERYTHING is comparable. The lack of real speed at QB but the knack to convert 3rd downs with his legs, EVERYTHING compares favorably to Joe Burrow.
I truly think the Browns should draft Travis Hunter then trade Myles to obtain Shedeur. If they did that they would change their franchise
The places they differ are ball placement/accuracy. Joe beats him there.
Shedeur is also a ticket seller type QB. No one will ever accuse him of of being a game manager like they used to do Joe.

No way Deion lets him go to Cleveland.
