I just have always assumed he's going to live to be 110 out of sheer stubbornness and spite, so he never occurred to me.

I always joke that i'll live to be 125, all my family will be gone and i'll be here alone, body broken down and unable to do anything but my mind will be sharp.
Even then, after i go, Mike Brown will still be here...

All hopes turn to next year

Ah man. Going to miss Mike H big time, great tackler and blitzer and will wish him the best wherever he goes except the stealers of course.
Please don't go to the stealers Mike...
Hope he goes to the Lions or Bills or some team I kind of like.

I hope they keep him, for depth if nothing else. Maybe the "new opportunity" means he's moving to safety

Maybe he meant he is getting a nice new contract with the Bengals so he'll have new opportunities to invest money.

Hope this is the case. Mike might actually be a good FS and he can tackle really well. This way Jordan Battle can be the SS and we can draft youth.
I like Tycen Anderson but he is a ST's ace they evidently don't want to move. Hoping Geno Stone is cut at some point.

Hilton's contract is up, so it's not a cut per se. My guess is the Bengals have told him they don't plan to bring him back.

Hilton moving into his 30s, on the downside it seems to career, for what he will want $$ for being a rotation guy here, not worth it, we need to just the guys we drafted getting more reps and experience. we can sign a vet to a 1 year veteran if needed for experience

This is one of those business moves that makes sense, but you sure hate to see it happen. Mike will always be one of my favorites. He did a damn good job in stripes, and is a great teammate and person.

Like the rest of you I hate to see him go. Been a solid player for us with great intangibles. Those don't come around every day.

Not surprised and agree with the move. 30 year old slot CB who was getting taken off the field because he was becoming a liability in pass coverage which dosent get better with age. Yes he was a good blitzing CB but how many times a game do you blitz a Cb ? I rather get better DL play. Again he did great things here but it’s not what have you done for us in the past it’s what can you give the team now. Same goes for Hubbard in my opinion two years of being hurt turning 30. Got to take the personal emotions of liking a player out of it and ask what’s best for the Bengals.

It does seem like the Bengals will move on from Hilton. Sad but I guess it's time to move on. I hate to see Hilton go just like I hated to see Reggie Nelson go but it's a business and it is what it is.

This would make me sad. Hilton was THE dude in slot/nickel, one of the best in the league. He was an awesome player for the team at the right time.

We actually have slot pretty covered with nearly all our corners a fit for slot (more so then outside some have argued).
They’ve prepared to let Hilton walk. Hopefully they young corners learned a lot from him.

I sad to see Hilton go. He's an ELITE run defending corner. #1 in the league. We need that.
I still have (faint) hope there is a change of heart. Until he signs elsewhere, I have it.
But Turner & Hill were both playing fairly well before injury. And Fig & Ivey are serviceable.

Props to Hilton for his Bengals career if he's not being brought back. He excelled on the field and from what I could tell, by reading about the Bengals, appeared to be a locker room leader.

Yep. I'm going to hate to see Hilton go, if he does. He's made a bunch of big plays for us.

Regarding big plays, he's a fairly unique talent for his skill set. Arguably, one of the best CBs for stopping the run and applying pressure on the QB. He'll be hard to replace.
