Interesting to see Lou may not be able to pull our defensive FA's so easily.

For anyone curious, the market is stupid right now.

Javon Kinlaw who I'd say is comparably talented to Hill just signed a 3 year 45 million deal in Washington with 30 million guranteed.

Last I remembered Kinlaw was a bust so that is interesting.

Well he is apart of that god awful DT room but that's the catch 22 I guess.

BJ is kinda a tweener DT. Or versatile if you wanna look at it positively.

A lot of teams are looking for a stud pass rusher or a stud run stuffer. Hill is neither.

But he is above average at both which is unusual for DTs. He can play alongside a run stuffer like Reader or a pass rusher.

Valuable vet and member of a DT rotation. More than solid. We had 4 degenders grade out at 70+ last year at PFF. Hendrickson. Wilson. Hill. And Hilton.

Glad to have BJ back on a reasonable.

This and the Gesicki move are our best so far.

We’re just sitting out the first part of free agency while we resign our core guys.

lol I can’t even type it with a straight face

If they expect him to be the #1 DT in the room then move is complete crap but if they actually sign an elite DT then its a good move.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

We say that every year when the staggering numbers start rolling out. Remember the run on high dollar RBs last year?

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I think Ted is overrated but I won't go there...

Awful. This just tells us they weren’t able to fill the interior with 2 draft picks last year.

.... it lacks context like your bj hill comment being part of the bad dt room

Not bad wonder what there plan is at DT? Hill played 3-tech next to Reader then we went small when we brought in Rankins and he played out of position. We have money tied into Hill and spent a 2nd rounder on Jenkins who’s also a 3-tech. Guess my question is with money and a high draft pick tied into that position are we out on good FA 3-techs or if Walter Nolan is there at 17th would we go edge if a similar rated player was there. Jackson was drafted as a NT. Obviously Al Golden has a different system wasn’t sure what he does at DT undersized guys or wants a traditional nose tackle.

16m guaranteed for Hill (they are spending a lot on these 30+ players after not doing so the last couple years).

Hill was never meant or brought in to start initially. I don't think he's changed much ass a player. I don't think they are going to sign another DT so the draft is likely where they will turn to to lower his snap count back down to when he was best utilized.

I don't think our Dline room is upgraded.

As far as interior oline it'll depend on what they do with guard, but either way I don't think we can ignore players like Hill and Karras being apart of the room we wanted/needed so badly to upgrade.

If you want to compare this would be like them re-signing Karras and leaving everything else the same. Does it move the needle?

I like him back as a vet because we didn't have one. Getting 16 million this year is more than I would have thought he would get.

We could have upgraded from him (Poona, Onwuzurike , Williams) just like we could upgrade Karras. With no funny cap gymnastics for Hill or Mike G. the cap is down a quick 20m.

I am just thankful Trey & Tee are still in stripes at the moment. I mean, all 3 are under contract. Though we certainly are missing out on more cap space by not getting long term deals done & restructuring Burrow.

Compared to where it was 2 hours ago, yes.

Hill + Jenkins + Jackson > Jenkins + Jackson.

I predicted 10.5yr over 3 with frontloaded guaranteed money.  I think they'll take the hit for 2 yr with low guarantees in 2yrs when Burrow and Chase (hopefully) hav bigger hits.  Expect a guard with the same deal since we will be likely looking at an affordable vet for a 2yr bridge.
