"Inching closer" to getting the JaMarr Chase deal done
(Yesterday, 05:07 PM)Nate (formerly eliminate08) Wrote: If Golden can get the Defense even mid-tier we can win a Super Bowl with Joe Burrow and these guys. But we need a Guard in front of him first.

I know we can move Ted to LG and Matt Lee can play Center, but we still need a RG after cutting Cappa and a Draft pick is never the answer as a
rookie. Neither Volson or Ford are starters from what we have seen. The FO must have a ton of faith in our new OL coach Peters.

Meh, I don't think that a middling defense is ideal.  Needs to be above avg at least.  If an elite offense backed by an average defense runs into a team like the current champs, they'll get cooked.  A team like Philly can slow down just about any offense.  They have to be better.  They need to make some hay in this draft and ideally fill some holes in FA.  Maybe not big ones, but contributors, still.

So we'll be fun to watch, but probably not win a SB.
I know goodberry was posting #s. I think the big 3 or 4 % of the cap is comparable to other teams. Surely would be less of an issue for the Bengals if they were more willing to do restructures and perhaps they will.

Whoever claimed the Bengals were “inching” closer to an agreement with Tee and Ja’Mar must have gotten the English units mixed up with metric units. It appears they were metering away not inches. It is Sunday night and no where near an announcement of an agreement between the parties other than from the so called hacks who heard something from their source who could be Tees fourth cousin once removed.

I'm disappointed we haven't seen an announcement from the NFL insiders yet making it officially "official" as well as seeing the contract structures to see what effect they have on the cap this year.

But Goodberry posted yesterday that he heard big news was coming any moment 10-15 mins before rapien posted his article. I imagine that means he talked to him and he gave him a heads up and I imagine that while the article said they were still doing the fine details the quote of "one source says it's done" is probably being overlooked. I believe it's done and agreed and it's just a matter of time before it's announced. Sucks to wait mainly for the numbers to be seen. But I believe it is done.

I always figure the Bengals FO is closed on weekends. I didn’t expect news to break until tomorrow at the earliest.

Deal is all but done. Just have to agree on the terms, length, dollar amounts and sign.   Ninja

Ii don't do these social media things, so I'm not privy to as many people trying to make stories, but see enough stuff to know that until it is official, everything is clickbait. I think things will get worked out, eventually. Not worrying about those who have the "insider" information who hope they post before others to say they broke the news. Done tonight or in July, I really don't care. They laced up when it is time, I'm ok with it.

If the Bengals are willing to give Chase 40+ per year and Tee around 30 million per year, the Bengals arent the ones trying to wring every single penny they can.  That sounds like the Players and their agents being paid top tier money, trying to wring even more when they are already being offered top tier contracts.

James Rapien does write for SI on Cincinnati sports. I just wanted to clarify that I or whoever was echoing it was a done deal wasn't just on a social media guy. But I understand it's not official until an insider reports it with concrete numbers.

Damn, there must be a lot of inches with these deals, eh?

Seriously though, wtf they waiting on if deals are basically done?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

I thought the word was they were trying to get Trey done as well and that there were parts of his deal that could cause parts to move on the others.

Hence, no announcement.
