They’re trying I’m told. His suitors have not come thru like he hoped I’m told.

I think he’s stuck but the Bengals are trying to keep him.

Also interesting that they reported that their agent told the Bengals no Chase extension unless Tee gets one, too.

Joe Burrow is running this show. He got exactly what he wanted (including Mike G) so his power play worked. Now they just have to go out and win a SB

I said this when Tee switched agents a long time ago. This was Tee and Chase’s leverage to get BOTH deals done. And I said it was mutually beneficial because the bengals didn’t have to negotiate with different agents who are both looking out for the player and for themselves (higher contract=higher commission).

The Tee/Chase deals are a relief. But also a year/week late and coslier because of the delay. Both in terms of the $$ and opportunity cost during FA.

In my book, these deals bring us from a D to a C this offseason. Cannot go higher than C/C- with the situation at G still so poor and with Slaton our biggest outside FA.

An "A" offseason would be a Burrow restructure + a Trey deal + Jenkins & Scherff to solidify guard + another impactful signing or two on D (DE Smith, DT Campbell, S Simmons or Blackmon, CB Gillmore or Hilton, etc).

I seriously doubt we get into A territory,,but I coukd see a B/B- from here. Trey + 1 guard.

I think they get a vet guard but not a very good one. Then they draft one in the third. Then between Kirkland,Ford,Volson, and the mediocre free agent and the rookie they pick 2.

Glad deals are done even though their waiting cost them money in the long run. Still have to get a G in FA and in the draft.
I know it’s a strong Edge class but I wouldn’t be surprised if if the Bengals went another way in the first.
They are probably keeping Trey, they re-signed Ossai (and Sample) and they still have a first round DE they just drafted a couple of years ago.

They could certainly use and edge rusher but now I don’t think they will take one in the first round.

Nice to see it official, but we need a Guard and everyone knows it. Trey can sign his 32 mil per year contract when he gets back from the trade waters.

I just want (don't like that word) hope that Tee talks to Housh about his yoga stuff that helped him get over his hammy issues.

and unless they get many other things "done" this team will  once again finish around .500..

The same team that now has made Tee a top paid WR at #5 and for the second time gave a player the highest contract ever given in NFL history for a non QB after they made JB the highest paid QB when they signd him.

Maybe time for some fans to end the insults or go root for another team.

I hope everyone can agree our offense with very good with 2 lousy starting guards. Our defense was horrid. It was a combo of talent and injuries to key defensive players.

It is a luxaryin the NFL to only have tso fix one side of the ball. I would argue we also have very good specail teams. Our unter was great and I trust and like Money Mac.

I was not on the keep Higgins train, but I am hopeful our FO has watched others build their rosters by pushing cap to future years. If so, there is. no reason they can't continue to keep adding FA's.

I just heard Stephen Smith so Bengals redzone offense was 3rd worst in the NFL. If true, they need to fix it and sky is limit for our offense.

Is the team kind of in limbo right now with the current roster such that without really getting a boost from more/new talent, they just hover between 8-10 wins and maybe just get WC spots like the Dalton-era or Palmer-era Bengals?

While having Chase and Higgins obviously helps to not bottom out for 2026-2029, it doesn't really do much to improve the team from where it was last year.

If they don't hit on draft picks, we have to hope existing other players on the team really take the next steps to boost the overall performance of the team.
Burrow, Chase, Higgins, and Hendrickson are pretty much about as high as they can possibly go.

Right, which the bolded I agree for sure from a certain point of view.

I am in the opinion though that if these deals didn't get done, then there was a pretty real chance a 2011 offseason could repeat itself in a similar full meltdown, simply because it actually happened with this front office. And if that was the case, well thankfully it wasn't.

So even though there is a lot of work to be done and the talent meter may not have moved yet,  these deals are far more important than not getting done, and it's not even close to me in regards to the chances of winning of a Super Bowl for at least the next few years.

My post-deal prediction is that the Bengals should definitely be a playoff team, assuming they do prepare for the season differently this time around like Taylor hinted at (I think it was him?) And time will tell towards end of season if they are legit in making a Super Bowl run after making the playoffs.

The thing with the draft is, we'll be lucky to get 1 guy capable of starting Day 1. And 2 quality starters out of the entire draft over their careers.

It's not like every guy will be playing.

You need special teamers in drafts and depth.

1. Trey gets his extension this year
2.He plays out next season and they franchise him
3 They trade him but they have to get more than a 3rd round pick for him (preferably multiple picks)
4 they draft his heir apparent in the 1st round and let him walk

I think they give him more money this year and less than the $35 million next year, but over 3 years he comes out ahead.

It's not like he can hold out and lose the $17.5 million this year.

They really only need 1 starter though, which is RG.
DE and DT can be a rotational/situational guy.
While not ideal, they can technically have Ossai start at DE and Jackson or Jenkins start at DT.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

It's hard to say we improved our roster a ton at this point. Maybe some improvements around the margins.

Still much work to do before we talk SB.

I know Trey wants more money, all of us always wanted more money. The NFL careers are very short. I think he wants more guaranteed money. He is in the last year of his contract and has zero, yes zero guaranteed dollars right now.

I see the Bengals extending Trey, but not close to the 32 million APY many are stating. I see him getting closer to 25 million per year APY, but with 60% of the 75 million guarateed or a cash guarantee of 45 million.

He still gets a huge raise and also gets guaranteed money which as of now, he has none.

The key to improving the roster one more time is to improve our OL play, starting with signing better guard(s).

Then on defense, add talent in the draft and develop the young guys on the roster now.
