Moss looked terrible last year. I was really hoping that they'd just accept it as a failed signing and move on.
Guess that means don't look for them to take a RB in the draft at all.

So are they raising his guarantee but lowering his base? I guess that's a little bit of savings and one less position to "have to" draft though there could be solid value late. I guess with 6 picks that's not a bad thing especially if they don't trade down any.

Surprising I thought he was cooked.

Agreed. I thought Moss was OK last year, but he is certainly not RB1. He and Perine are decentbackups, but neither is explosive at all.
Despite some good prospects in the draft, picking a RB with our IOL in its current state never made much sense to me. But what do I know?

Going from no guarantees to guaranteed money all but locks his roster spot in. Odd.
Most definitely can be taken as no rb in the draft now. Why else make this move?
I thought he was too similar to Perine to stick around.
Herbert looked like a better fit for the offense.

I'd have to see the numbers before I give the thumbs up or down
Either way I don't think it really moves a needle.

This may ger updated soon but it matches the 4.8M going around in the articles. So his old hit is 1.5M guaranteed not zero. If they're pretty sure he's coming back maybe they got him to give up 1M in a paycut as long as say 500k is guaranteed. Remember, they hate dead money.

No. Not really. But 8t tells us they think he will be able to play. And that a RB is probably off the table in the draft.
If we want to carry 4, Dobbins/Chubb in FA works for me.

I think he is cooked, and the Bengals somehow are playing PR instead of trying to win a superbowl.

Those guys are likely a minimum of 5 million a year. The draft is loaded with guys we can get in round 6 who are 3rd or 4th round values. Teams only carry so many and this may be the biggest draft on overall RB picks in a very long time.
If we wait, we may be able to grab an undrafted RB. It may not make sense to pay the extra money for teh vet, the same vets who also do not play special teams.
Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

I would hope if he is cooked, they would have agreed to an injury settlement. I fully guaranteed 1 year deal is the opposite of FO thinking he is cooked, but hey I guess you checked your medical reports and have it figured out.
Maybe just maybe the team has a little more info and insight than us fans.

That's good. I take that as a sign he is healthy. Brown, Perine, and Moss is a very capable trio. We will still add competition. But knowing Moss is back allows the toss up draft picks where talent is equal and positional roster need is the determining factor, to go a different direction than RB. And I'm cool with that.

I don't remember Moss being as bad as everyone says but I never looked very closely either. Was his pass blocking bad too?

Until the bengals win a superbowl I don't trust their insight, lol.
Moss was a 3.3 YPC last year in 8 games. This is just them saying we don't want to look for another RB right now, maybe. When I say cooked, I didn't really mean his injury is going to stop him from playing well, he stopped himself when healthy.
Because someone has been doing something for a long time doesn't always equate to they are good at what they do. Because someone is in a power position does not equate to they are good at what they do. I think if you look historically, people will say the Bengals FO is bad a their job! lol.

I would be concerned if the Bengals did not have Perine.
Moss as a #3 does not move the needle, just covers a base in the draft, which is okay since the Bengals only have 6 picks.

If it was going to be one or the other, I would have preferred to keep Herbert and let Moss go.

Yes, let's keep a guy who averaged 3.3 YPC last year and has 0 change of direction and speed to speak of.
Chase Brown, in the same offense, averaged 1 YPC higher.
Surely even a Day 3 rookie can do just as well, right?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
Sorry for Party Rocking!
