The Sunset Draft
#1
17. Nick Emmanwori S 6'3" 220 We need playmakers on D bad and he is one!

Elite blend of traits, speed and versatility.
Has the skill set to match up with top tight ends.
Underestimating his range in space comes at a price.
Wingspan and ball skills like a five-star wide receiver.
Able to land punishing blows on catch targets.
Leaping and length help smother catch tries.
Has the speed to wipe out angles on wide runs.
Racked up solo tackles in all three seasons.

49. Donovan Jackson G 6'4" 315 If he is actually there at 49 (I doubt it) I'd run to the podium, gotta get Joe some protection

Guard prototype with thick chest, broad hips, long arms and big hands.
Able to punch and stay clinched from a distance.
Uses core power, hip flexion and hand resets to thwart bull rush.
Uses length and upper-body power to thump gap shooters.
Displays above average “hit and stick” for longer sustain.
Strain and leg drive to push double-team blocks vertically.
Moves fluidly and with good acceleration for stretch blocks and pulls.
He looks for physical block finishes once he’s locked in.

81. Shemar Turner DT 6'3" 290 This guy brings a lot to the table and umm we need playmakers.

Plays with a relentless level of aggression.
Gets off the snap and into the neutral zone quickly.
Quick to show-and-go from one gap to the next as a penetrator.
Power and leverage to punch and tilt blocker at the point.
Neverending series of slaps and counters during his rush.
Works to find rush openings with active hands and feet.
Capable of rushing from a variety of alignments.

119. Smael Mondon Jr. LB 6'2" 224 Coverage talent - we have been regularly getting fried by TE's

Vast experience in high-leverage games over three seasons.
Takes on blocks and keeps play-side edge uncovered.
Pursues outside runs with gear shift and leverage.
Reliable tackler with plus athleticism and technique.
Fluid in space with above-average range in zone.
Man-cover talent with ability to disrupt the catch.
Rips downhill with good elusiveness as a blitzer.

153. Sai'vion Jones DE 6'5" 280 Picture book 4-3 DE not quite sure we could really get this guy this late?

He’s tough, physical and relentless.
Locates runners and works around blocks to tackle.
Rushes with explosive get-off and good forward lean.
Plays with an excellent feel for pocket depth.
Fluid chop-and-rip move pairs with a spin counter.

193. Dont'e Thornton Jr. WR 6' 5" 205 Throw Joe a bone just in case Burton gets sent packing.

Explosive vertically, with a career average of 21.9 yards per catch.
Play strength and hand-fighting pull him past physical corners.
Able to sink hips and gather quickly for comebacks.
Talent to track, adjust and win contested deep throws.
True speed to make house calls when catching on the move.
Works away from coverage and toward the throw for quarterbacks.
Bends and corners hard to constrict pocket at top of the rush.
Motor and change of direction to stay on the quarterback's scent.

I'd be down with this draft!

Hey, I do like this draft. Though I might look for DE over DT in the 3rd. I just have a feeling that with the addition of Slaton and the continued development of our second year DTs, that the IDL room might be a little more complete than we're thinking.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I would very good with first 2 picks, but unlikely Jackson is sitting there at pick 49. We need a defensive end before a DT in my opinion. The Tennessee WR is lso likely to go about 80 to 90 picks prior to #193.

Overall, I like the draft, just dont see the board falling this way.

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

I'm a fan of Sai'vion Jones.  He started out great but then faded some during the year.  Had a nice all star game sack.  6'5, 280, 9.19 RAS.

Oh I know, I'm starting to lean toward IDL isn't awful myself (hoping). But I was just focused on getting some playmakers for our D, we need some bad!

Doesn't matter if we're scoring 30 points a game if we're giving up 35.

I believe it's fairly unrealistic myself but that's how it fell for me. Jones in the 5th round ummm....

I agree about improving the defense being the biggest priority. I think that the biggest personnel improvement impacts could be had at Safety and LB. LB may be part of the way solved with Logan Wilson returning to full health and addition of Burks. If Golden wants to run more 4-3 base, I'd leave Pratt in the middle and put Burks at Sam and then pull Pratt when they go Nickle. DE definitely needs a personnel boost, as weather they come to terms with Hendrickson or not, he's not getting any younger and Ossai and Murphy just doesn't sound like a formidable duo.

That's what scares me! Those two being very pedestrian and losing Trey and him getting replaced with johnny umptyscratch and here we go again with opposing QB's being able to read the paper on dropbacks.

I'd be happy with this draft - especially if Turner panned out. I'd be thrilled with Jackson in the 2nd - or Ratledge. HAVE to have a very solid guard in the 2nd.

Both Emmanwori and Jihaad Campbell intrigue me in the first. They would bring so much speed and vision to the defensive backfield. And they would bring physicality and intelligence to the table.

Looking forward to tomorrow!
