Day 3!
(Yesterday, 03:07 PM)bfine32 Wrote: They took one in the 3rd RD

They REACHED for one in the 3rd and he wasnt the stsrting A gap NT. They did something similar this year in Dylan Fairchild which I called a couple weeks ago. Poor Team Building leads to Draft reaching.

The Bengals must not be popular to call and make trades. Other teams are dealing a lot.

OK, I agree bad call in 2024, but Golden was not here nor was Montgomery and now they have a 2nd year player and a known run stopping vet to pair with Hill.

I have no issue us grabbing a DT, I have a couple on. my wish list. It is a deep DT group so still guys they could pick.

So which was it?

They didn't think they needed a NT

or

They REACHED for a NT

IF WE GO DT NEXT..I LIKE JAY TOIA FROM UCLA....BIG NT!!!

Darkhorse for me is Jay Toia - DT from UCLA. Huge guy that eats up blockers. Straight 0 or 1 technique.

They didn't think they needed a NT for their base defense. They used BJ Hill as their A-Gap Defender on over 60% of their defensive snaps. They REACHED for a 1Tech to play 2-gap NT in their 514 heavy base.

In round 5 he is a very low risk and high reward pick

it was not that at all, they signed Rankins, knew Hill had already played well at NT, also drafted Jackson and we know defense alignment  lessens old NG.. the issue was Rankin did not play well and was out for a while, and jackson got hurt and never found form....

I think w/ Jackson and Slayton we're good at NT. Now a penetrating 3-Tech....

Ok. so they reached for something they didn't think they needed.

We're usually on the same sheet, but I cannot grasp that logic

I still like Howard (over Sanders) to back up Burrow

If not, JB could sure have fun adding the speedy Bond from Texas

I like the DT
Pegues lined up at defensive tackle, edge, wildcat quarterback, running back and tight end at Ole Miss. He is a disruptive interior run defender, with the quick first step and active hands to get into the backfield. He is big and strong enough to anchor when he keeps his pads down, and he gets under offensive tackles when he plays outside. He has the tools to be more productive rushing the passer, as he's quick, changes directions well for his size and shows some strengths as a hand fighter. He flattens at the top of his rush, able to push offensive tackles back coming off the edge. The plays he ran on offense, which included 21 carries for 69 yards and 7 touchdowns, showed impressive burst and foot speed. -- Steve Muench

So the Stains picked a diva and potential locker room cancer after already picking a QB.

I dont understand why they take Gabriel in the 3rd then trade up to take Sanders in the 5th.
