And he was the sack leader last year and yet the highest paid DE in football is making almost double what he is set for this year. Including the fact that his one year is more than normal people make in a lifetime is a moot point because the Brown family also makes hundreds of millions per year. Every year they get more. They can pay him closer to what he's worth, they just don't want to. If greed is your issue with him then it makes no sense you wouldn't hold them to the same criticism. They're being greedy as usual.

They are mandated to spend money on players to a percentage of the cap. It's not like they are pocketing it, they spent it on Chase, Higgins, Burrow, etc. I think a 12 million dollar raise in a non-contract year is very generous. He should play this year for the 28 million and worry about getting his 35 or 40 million next year when he's a free agent, IMO. But he knows he is getting old.

I'm glad that the Bengals and Hamilton County agreed to extend the stadium lease. I hope that they come to some sort of contract resolution with Trey Hendrickson before the season begins, something like 30M for 2 years. I also hope the Bengals just remove that contract clause within Shemar Stewarts proposed contract so that he can get to training camp and get his practice reps in, although I have a feeling, he's going to end up being a disappointment as a player this year at least. I would have chosen someone else like James Pearce from Tennessee who was drafted 26th by the Falcons. We will see!

Why would you give Trey an extra 12 million for this year when he is already under contract?  Feels like a waste of money.  Either extend him for 3 or 4 years or trade him.

If someone would have told me that the Bengals would resign Chase, Higgins, Gesicki, BJ Hill, and Ossai, I wouldn't have believed them.
They do seem to be crapping the bed with Hendrickson and Stewart, but I'm not worried that Hendrickson needs a long camp to get ready. Hendrickson deserves more money, but not necessarily 3+ years at the higher number. Stewart needs camp badly.
IMO moves remain to be made, but with a new DC coordinator and OL coach, blowing up those rooms seems counterproductive.
Instead there' a mini youth movement at a few positions and a plan to be playing well at the end of the year again.
Zac Taylor's seat is low-key on fire; but I don't see another potential HC on the staff if the Bengals have another negligently slow start.

The bengals focused on both defense and offensive line with both new coaches and players..maybe not the coaches and players you like..but to suggest that they are planning to only play well at the end if the year is ludicrous...stewart will be in camp and hendrickson isnot a game changer that you make him out to be

Mike Brown and Front office are selling to fans that they made a deal to stay in Hamilton Country. The problem is if they play in Cincinnati or some place else, their Defense still Stinks. Losing Hendrickson doesn't help. Not signing their #1 draft pick does not help. Not doing either means Last Place for Mike Brown who has been in last place many times and seems to like it there.

The one positive is Training Camp and Preseason has not started yet. It means more to the rookie draft pick. He needs coached up. Hendrickson could probably sign just before start of season and be OK, there isn't a lot Golden can teach him. The rookie however, if he misses Summer camp, don't expect him to do much until 2026. So again, Bengals Front Office has to Get With It or it is Last Place for our Bengals this season. Can not win with one of the worst defenses in NFL, and not having Hendrickson or the #1 pick signed isn't how to fix this awful defense.

To those that might say they have Burrow, Chase, Higgins, then I must ask, does any of those guys play defense ?

Really in losing Trey H really has and will hurt the team as he was the heart of the defense. Really need to bulk up the defense big time. Need in filling in some huge shoes.
