Makes the whole taking a pay cut thing rather pointless. It really was why I thought he'd make the roster.

I can only speculate they wanted to give him the opportunity to play ball but recently concluded he had no chance of helping the team.

I thought he would get cut sooner or later with the way Chase Brown came on last year and us adding Samaje and Tahj.

Zack Moss was a good pass protector when he signed with us, but Chase Brown grew in this aspect and both Samaje and Tahj are
good in this aspect. I think Tahj Brooks is going to surprise this year in the inside zone blocking we are going to implement. Tahj is a
really good runner in between the Tackles.

Good luck Zack, hope all goes well. Cool

He took a pay cut but received some guaranteed money, which makes sense for a player who was uncertain about playing.  I got the feeling yesterday, after reading Dehner's article in The Athletic about Moss, that he really didn't want to play but wasn't quite ready to make that decision, so he was hoping the Bengals would make it for him...and they did.  I'm betting he retires entirely from football.  A broken neck is nothing to fool around with

He got $1.8 mil in guaranteed $$, way more than he had before. Was not pointless for him.

Yep. And the fact that he played with it for weeks...could have been a whole lot worse.

Some things that were important to him last year are probably less so this.

Yeah, I meant for the Bengals. Good on him getting extra money for not having to do much at all.

Various NFL News media were calling this a week or two ago.  With both Hendrickson and draft pick Stewart as DE's not signed, they said look for Bengals to cut Moss.  His was the contract at RB of a few bucks able to cut.  Bengals have Chase Brown, Perrine back and other RB's.  By dumping Moss, it helps in Bengals just signing Stewart, and Bengals still trying to get Hendrickson at DE also.

Cutting Moss was a move many in NFL saw coming. Bengals had too many RBs.

I'll call a cut move before season starts.  Bengals have too many TE's also.

Look for Bengals to have a much better defense than ESPN A. Smith putting down Bengals defense.   A. Smith needs to stick to talking Lebron James 365 days a year, because Golden will have a much better D than A. Smith thinks.

Cutting Moss was predicted by most NFL, as Bengals try to beef up defense. Perrine back made Moss a top choice as a roster cut. Plus Chase Brown won the job after Mixon gone. There are rumors Bengals and Hendrickson are close now, with Hendrickson back in camp.  I'll take having some D Line for Golden over being over stocked at RB.  Signing Stewart at DE was huge and if they bookend him with Hendrickson, then Burrow, Chase, Huggins may be going Super Bowl, starting with clobbering Cleveland.

Hate to see that for him but he was truly awful last year, even before he got hurt. No explosiveness and couldn't make guys miss.

The RB room is better with Brooks and Perine additions.
