Updated Cap Space for Each Team
#1
God love Hobson for providing us with all the necessary numbers. It's time to really look at the cap situation for each team?

I think we would all agree that every single team has to account for draft, right? And they all have injuries, and offseason workouts, and incentives, and practice squads. Would anyone dispute any of that? That every single team has these financial aspects to consider?

So since Geoff shaved off a whopping 20 plus million from our cap space, you know to account for all this stuff (bullshit), would it not make sense to apply to every team? I mean, afterall, they all have it.

So I thought it would be interesting to see how much teams can really spend. I'm going to round down all the way to 20 million, just for arguments sake, and to presume we need to account for the most. Millions upon more in fact. So without further ado, this is what each team has in cap space, after accounting for these league wide expenses:

1 Jacksonville Jaguars $63,082,314
2 Oakland Raiders $51,593,440
3 New York Giants $36,522,688
4 San Francisco 49ers $35,045,507
5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers $29,277,574
6 Cleveland Browns $27,606,320
7 Tennessee Titans $27,443,299
8 Los Angeles Rams $26,112,684
9 Chicago Bears $26,035,330
10 Houston Texans $21,308,177
11 Cincinnati Bengals $15,000,000
12 San Diego Chargers $15,368,377
13 Atlanta Falcons $13,033,995
14 Detroit Lions $12,828,562
15 Indianapolis Colts $8,601,811
16 Carolina Panthers $7,573,220
17 Minnesota Vikings $4,511,146
18 Seattle Seahawks $3,312,781
19 Kansas City Chiefs $2,348,301
20 Green Bay Packers $1,591,031
21 Philadelphia Eagles - $3,000,000 (Negative)
22 New England Patriots -$5,000,000 (Negative)
23 Arizona Cardinals -$5,000,000 (Negative)
24 Buffalo Bills -$7,000,000 (Negative)
25 Baltimore Ravens -$8,000,000 (Negative)
26 Pittsburgh Steelers -$9,000,000 (Negative)
27 Dallas Cowboys -$10,000,000 (Negative)
28 New Orleans Saints -$10,000,000 (Negative)
29 New York Jets -$14,000,000 (Negative)
30 Denver Broncos $-20,000,000 (Negative)
31 Miami Dolphins $-25,000,000 (Negative)
32 Washington Redskins $-26,000,000 (Negative)

12 teams have negative cap space, after accounting for their rookies, injuries, off-season workouts, and practice squads.

6 teams are actually going to be in the hole over 10 million dollars. (Can they even field a team?)

3 teams are over 20 million in the red. (Who likes playing offense and defense. #oldschool)

Bear in mind, many roster are nowhere near filled. How on earth are teams going to manage to pay everyone? Has there every been anything like this?!!!?!?!?

-Will there be a draft? What happens to teams who can't pay their rookies?
-Do some of these teams go both ways? I personally think Von Miller will see some reps at FB.
-Do some teams cancel their offseason program?

So many questions. This is going to be one interesting year, folks!!!! Why didn't these teams budgets for this? What a bunch of idiots. This is going to be crazy!!!!

....or....Geoff Hobson is a liar, and all these teams will field a full roster, participate in the draft, having a workout program, and manage to pay their incentives and injury settlements.

You tell me, which seems more plausible?

Id say we are in great shape. Looking at the top 15 teams with the most space, we are without a doubt the best team in the top 15. And we are number 11

Good gravy, Jags, just because you play like a high school team doesn't mean you should pay like a high school team.

That's nearly half their cap. They could field two crappy teams.

I think the Jags will win their (admittedly crappy) division in 2016. They're building a pretty good team down there.

Bortles, Robinson, Hurns, Yeldon, Thomas.. that's a pretty darn good skill group right there.

They just need to fix their OL (smart money is they get Mack in FA like they tried to last time). Then add a little talent on D with rumors are they've been eyeing Malik Jackson and Bruce Irvin, since they can afford both, and then you shouldn't sleep on them. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see them having a 10 top offense both yardage and scoring in 2016.

Keep in mind, this is a completely imaginary list, based primarily on the idea that teams need to set aside 23 million dollars for the following: Rookie pool, offseason workout program, injury settlement, incentives, 9 volt batteries, overdue library fees, and "handling charges".

If every team magically wiped 20 mil off their cap space, then yes, we would be 11th in space.  Although, none of this account for how many players each teams needs to sign, who the players are, ect.

I'm guessing, most teams don't elect to budget this much for these expenses, further moving us down the list.  And being that we have a ton of guys to sign, well, I'm not sure we're sitting all that pretty.  IMO, it's going to take a helluva lot more than 15 mil TOTAL cap space to round this roster the way it should be.
