But the Bengals would have been.
09- Aaron Hernandez - SWING AND A MISS! - TOOK Andre Smith
10 - DaQawaun Bowers - Took Jermaine Gresham
11 - Alfonzo Denard - AJ GREEN!
12 - Lamar Miller - Dre Kirk and Zietler.
13 - Montee Ball - Took Tyler Eifert. - Much better choice.
14 - Derqueez Denard - WE TOOK HIM! YAY!
15 - Bud Dupree --- He was there we took OOGA BOOGA instead.
Interesting to see what the team would look like if we took a lot of those busts
Safe to say our scouting department is better than Kiper!

That's why most of those guys will never make it as a GM.

They had the Bengals picking Hernandez that early in 2009? I didn't even know he was a 2009 draftee. I thought he was part of the 2010 draft class.

It's surprising how BAD the bengals could have been, given his choices!

I noticed a few players were in the wrong draft.
The post online is his "Initial Mock draft" I think its the one he puts out right after the last draft.
So like 2015 draft just ended. They just released an early 2016 draft.
I'd be more interested to see their final Mocks compared to what we picked.

Yeah, Hernandez was definitely a 2010 4th round pick. We definitely should have taken him with the #9 overall pick a year earlier though.

I always think it is neat to look back at some of the players we could have had or picks we seemed to hit on in hindsight just for the heck of it...Obviously there are players that became injured or didn't work out for one reason or another that we originally drafted that looked good at the time.
2010
#21- Dez Bryant (Gresham drafted)
#54 - Carlos Dunlap (same)
#84 - Jimmy Graham (Shipley drafted)
#96 - Alterraun Verner (Ghee drafted)
#120 - Geno Atkins (same)
#131 - Kam Chancellor (Rodrick Muckelroy drafted)
#152 - Greg Hardy (Otis Hudson drafted)
#191 - Antonio Brown (Dez Briscoe drafted)
#228 - Kurt Coleman (Reggie Stephens drafted)
2011
#4 - AJ Green (same)
#35 - Kaepernick or Dalton?
#66 - Justin Houston (Dontay Mock drafted)
#101 - Clint Boling (same)
#134 - Richard Sherman (Robert Sands drafted)
#167 - Byron Maxwell (Ryan Whalen drafted)
#207 - Mark Herzlich (Korey Lindsey drafted)
#246 - Dane Sanzenbacher (Jay Finley drafted)
2012
#17 - Chandler Jones (Kirkpatrick drafted)
#27 - Kevin Zeitler (same)
#53 - Lavonte David (Still drafted)
#83 - TY Hilton (Sanu drafted)
#93 - Brandon Thompson (Same)
#116 - Brandon Boykin (Orson Charles drafted)
#156 - Alfred Morris (Shaun Prater drafted)
#166 - Marvin Jones (same)
#167 - George Iloka (same)
#191 - Vontaze Burfict (Dan Herron drafted)
2013
#21 - Alec Ogletree (Eifert drafted)
#37 - Kiko Alonso (Bernard drafted)
#53 - Eddie Lacy (Hunt drafted)
#84 - Brian Scwenke (Williams drafted)
#118 - Kenny Stills (Porter drafted)
#156 - Ricky Wagner (Hawkinson drafted)
#190 - Rex Burkhead (same)
#197 - Jordan Poyer (Hamilton drafted)
#240 - Reid Fragel (same)
#251 - TJ Johnson (same)
It is too early for 2014 and 2015 drafts. Even 2013 felt a little early as some of our picks like Eifert, Hunt, and Williams could all still produce. Just listed some of the different players based on the impact they had made already in the NFL at some points. Only reason I went Alonso over Gio was because Lacy would have still been available at #53. This was just for the heck of it so try not to be too critical.

The mocks listed also don't account for what selection we ended up with. For example did he have us at the #4 pick selecting Dennard over AJ Green? If so, that would be completely nuts. Initial mock drafts done before the draft order, before the final college season of the players, and before players are decided are not meant to be taken real serious.

I've seen people say before, "What could've been if we took Jimmy Graham or Aaron Hernandez?"
I think it would've been a terrible decision for us. You have to remember that Bob "What is TE" Bratkowski was our OC. Mike Brown had a loyalty to this guy and only got rid of him in an attempt to satisfy Carson when he demanded a trade. Kicking a TE out wide and basically play WR was something he never did. Graham/Hernandez would've been flops with us, in my opinion.
You can always trust an dishonest man to be dishonest. Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to look out for.

While interesting to look at the point is moot because 30 other teams missed on all of those players as well.

Imagine all the jokes and abuse we would have had to endure if we had taken Hernandez.

If we would have taken Hernandez, he would have killed 2 people in the Tri State area instead of Boston...
Possibly one of us.
