We have a problem letting go.

Is this the guy who attempts to headhunt but ends up hitting his own teammates?

Mays really only contributes to ST and will be suspended for 4 games. Okay then...

This is probably why we need a new Coach. They are scared to turn over the bottom of the roster (Simms, Tate, now Mays). Fresh eyes may bring in fresh talent. Or at least some that we already don't know their ceiling.

Mays could fill the nickle LB position.

Otherwise it is going to be Vinny Rey or maybe someone like Flowers.

Personally I see Mays as an upgrade at that crucial position.  I don't think the Bengals would pass on a chance to fill this spot in the draft just because we had Mays under contract.  It would be a third round or later pick, but unlike many people here, I don't see the Bengals using a first or second on a LB after paying Vinny starter money.

Vinny Rey isn't very good at it, but he's better than Mays.

So, perspective wise, this is a bad move.

Better off dropping Williams to LB in nickel and putting Derron Smith at S with Iloka

Remember that time we lost in the first round of the playoffs?
Wouldn't it be swell if we kept the roster as same as possible?
Especially the fringe bottom roster guys.

No to Mays. We know what he brings. Mediocrity at best as an in-box safety and nickel LB.

There are prospects in the draft with the same skill set that have (hopefully) a brighter future. Cravens and Killebrew are the first two that come to mind.

Hopefully if Mays returns, it doesn't mean that he is guaranteed to stick to the roster.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Yeah. let's all blame the playoff losses on Pat Sims (even though he had a sack against the Steelers) because we have to find a reason to squeal and cry about every move the Bengals make.

The heroic defender of the Bengals is here!

Everyone can relax now.

We have a problem letting go.

Why? He sucks. Why even waste the time to bring in someone like him. Why not go after someone who actually offers anything of value. As far as LaFell, that could be a good signing.

Ask fred.
I'm sure he has a good reason.

This is sad. Mays has generated next to zero interest, he's not a good safety or LB, plus he got suspended for PEDs (that obviously didn't help him much).

This is another example of how sometimes the Bengals loyalty can reach ridiculous levels.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.

I don't have problem with this move as long as they don't view him "lock" same with sims and Tate.

Except neither of our back up DTs from just two years ago (Thompson, Still) will be on the roster come training camp.

If we started turning over 15 positions every year you guys would also claim we needed a new head coach because there was no "consistency like on all the good teams".
