Here are some interesting Bengal team stats over the last five seasons. If all you care about is that we are 0-5 in the post season you can stop reading now.
Wins..............5th
Points scored...8th
Points allowed..3rd
Point diff.........5th (sixth best point diff in 2nd half so halftime adjustments are not a big problem)
Forced TO.......7th
TO margin.......7th
Yds margin......10th (but Bengals are one of only 7 teams that both outrushed and outpassed opponents)
Penalties........16th (meh, refs don't hate us that bad)
Opp Penalties...5th fewest (REFS HATE US!!!)
Here are some numbers for people who claim we don't play well in big games. All of these numbers are from games against teams that ended the season with a winning record
Total wins.....5th
Win %.........6th
And here is an interesting stats about how good of a comeback team the Bengals are. These numbers are from games where the team trailed at some point in the game.
Total wins....5th
Win %.........4th

Fred,
Winning the playoffs matters more cause it's the next barrier to becoming a great team. If we couldn't make the playoffs, like before, then making the playoffs would be more important than winning against a team like NE cause just making the playoffs would be the next barrier.
Now, however, we need to be able to beat teams in the playoffs to move forward. Make sense?
I hope so, cause you can complain all you but this team is going to continue to be considered an underachiever until it wins in the post season. In fact, we're going to hear about the playoff win drought all season long. It will be mentioned during every single game by the announcers. It is something that is on Lewis' mind, even if he denies it.
So, it's okay if the fans talk about it.

I probably read more literature than anyone on this site, but I can't have a discussion with many of you on the works of Salman Rushdie, Iris Murdoch, Michael Chabon, Anthony Burgess, Charles Bukowski, or John Fante.

I have no problem with you talking about it. Start all the threads you want to talk about our playoff losses.
I just think it is possible to have a discussion about the other 16 games the team plays each year. Why aren't you okay with that?

You brought it up.
I don't have any problem talking about the other 16 games. But I do wish we could be talking about an 18th game one of the years.

I brought it up to avoid exactly what is happening here.
I know there are certain people here who can not even discuss what happens in the regular season. And I knew that they would try to hijack this thread with all their clever comments about "0-5 is all that matters."
So could you please go start your own thread about how "All that matters is 0-5". I am sure there are a lot of other people who will enjoy it.

Here is how I would describe the Bengals past 5 years.
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way."

Playoffs are a huge factor in our success.
This is the way I look at our last 5 years:
2011: YAY!
2012: WOO, WE'LL WIN THE NEXT ONE!
2013: WTH, WE SHOULD'VE WON, OH WELL
2014: FFS, INJURIES
2015: F**KIN HELL,
Now, I don't care what we do in the regular season.. Shiet.. We could be the #1 defense and offense and be 16-0.. It won't matter until we win that one playoff game.
(future hopefully) 2016: YAY! WE FINALLY WON A PLAYOFF GAME

Possibly the best regular season dynasty of all time? Oh, wait.... what about the teams who are ranked higher than the Bengals in those categories? Have they managed post season success?
Fred, the Bengals get As for the quarter and and F on the final exam. Point is: If they can't do it when it counts... who gives a rip?

The hundreds of millions of people who attend and/or watch regular season games.
Plus every team that prefers to go to the playoffs instead of watching them from home.
Funny how so many people get worked up over every single regular season game here, but then try to act like they don't care about regular season games. In fact, PDub, I have seen you here after regular season games with some very strong opinions. Hypocrite much?

How many of you think the Cowboys have been a better team than the Bengals over the last 5 years?
Have the Falcons and Chiefs been better than the Bengals over the last 5 years?
