Bengals working out Dwight Freeney

I'm all for signing Freeney. At this stage in his career, he's a situational pass rush specialist (and a pretty good one)...and that just happens to be the one ingredient we are missing off the bench right now.

yeah we have been searching for this guy for a long time....    Moch Carter and others before them were all suppose to have been that guy.

There is no reason NOT to bring a guy like this on board. Even if he produces only 1 sack he's a great presence on the sidelines. Leadership. Savvy. Spiritual veteran creaminess.
If you see something suspicious, say something suspicious.

Absolutely this! Used sparingly he should have at least one good year left in him, even if he isn't totally effective, hopefully he can rub some off some of his talents on Clarke and Hunt.

He was effective last year. In 11 games he got 8 sacks. A rotational situation like our DL is perfect for him. We can get him at a reasonable price, plus have veteran presence for the younger guys to learn from. If he has gas in the tryout....sign him up. At the very least he goes through camp, rubs off on the younger guys, and is let go if somebody deserves the spot more than him.

Dude is an absolute pass rushing legend - bring him in!

Crazy to think that a 6'1'' 270 pound man could run a 4.4 40 at one point... Shocked

Agree,

Exactly what I was gonna say. With a limit on his snaps he would be a fine addition to the team for several reasons.

For the love of God bring freeney in and sign him ASAP, I will be convinced this is our year. I've always thought freeney was good and one of the best to do it. I don't care if he's 36.this pass rush would be fun!!

Demarcus Ware still is going strong for the Broncos, why not Freeney for us?

Did he even work out? You have a better chance then hearing a mouse fart, then getting up to the minute free agent info out of PBS. Basically the next news will be we sign him or he visits another team.

I think your more likely to see Hardison than Billings on pass rushing situations.

I was thinking about that...

Hope Hardison becomes that inside pass rusher we need or Deshawn Williams.

But i still must say that Billings has shown lots as a pass rusher at Baylor.

The thing is Freeney, Dunlap and Atkins would be a terror on 3rd and longs for opposing QB's. Shocked

I don't understand why so many think these Free Agents we bring in are going to be too much money. The reason we are bringing them in is because they are one year at close to minimum or minimum salary deals. Guys are coming here to try and win a ring. 5 straight trips to the playoffs means something and each year we get closer to making a true run at a Super Bowl. We can sign Freeney if the physical checks out and it will be for minimum money, similar to Dansby and not even as much as LaFell (which was still not much). No reason this shouldn't get done and Freeney as a third down pass rush specialist to fill the spot left by Gilberry is an upgrade. Who Dey.

True that JR85, should be a no brainer similar to the Dansby one.

BTW, love the interview with Dansby on bengals.com. He wants that SB ring and that is why he is here.

Says this team reminds him of the Arizona team he was on when he got there except more talented and
this is the best LB core he has ever been on. Awesome dude to add to this Defense. I think Freeney would
be great for us as well and i think it gets done.

Well considering that the Cardinals got him for 1 year/970k last year, I doubt his salary demands will be unreasonable.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.
