The more abundant young talent at WR position is a good thing during this transition period.
Well said Coach.
No reason to hate on this move at all but some just will cause that is what they live for.

I asked if you were basing it just on the video embedded in the thread. I legit ASKED, didn't say you did. You said you didn't and provided highlight stuff...not ground-breaking, but it was what I asked for.
Also, this guy is likely to be another scrub but you can get your hopes up. It's a free country. You still haven't told me why we shouldn't be terrified of that tall fast scrub the Steelers got, though.

I'm not hating on the guy, but I'm not going to assume we're going to have an unstoppable offense just because we signed him. I rather hope he isn't our #2 WR, but I guess he might end up being it.
I get it...we have to blow something out of proportion every off-season. Last year it was Denarius Moore who was going to be unstoppable across from AJ...I don't take it personally when people think I'm nuts for being skeptical.

Last season it was Super Mario! He was gonna be the fastest receiver eva! Oh, and displace Tate on special teams, of course.

4. Alford
5. Wright
6. the next nobody WR we sign, possibly from the lingerie league this time
7. Armon Binns himself (we could probably pry him away from the Ottawa Redblacks if we offer a 3rd)
Where's Dez Briscoe on this list?
Seriously though, after Briscoe, I promised myself never to get overly hyped over rookie WRs.
Today I'm TEAM SEWELL. Tomorrow TEAM PITTS. Maybe TEAM CHASE. I can't decide, and glad I don't have to.

Maybe we should be.
He doesn't seem as talented as Simonise and seems even more raw, and not like a natural playmaker like Simonise. He seems more stiff and not as fluid in his movements, as well as not being as much of a deep threat, and he also doesn't seem like the type to go get the ball and make acrobatic catches, but the Steelers could develop him into something solid.
How's that?

I live in Germany and I've seen the GFL players up close and personal play..Bohringer is a product of playing against a lot of teams that would have a hard time beating a good 5A high school team in America. Not a lot of good routes even get run in the GFL league because there is hardly any kind of pass rush that is generated. QB's can run around all day long and play backyard football. I went to a game this weekend and guess who was the starting QB for one of the teams? Shane Carden, formerly of East Carolina University and a UDFA of the Chicago Bears. He looked like an overmatched high school QB in the game. I had a hard time even thinking he ever made it to the NFL pro level...
So basically what I'm saying is if you put Simonise in the GFL with Bohringer and compared them..You wouldn't see too much difference.

Claiming that an undrafted free agent will be a scrub is not "extreme".
Claiming that an undrafted free agent could make our offense "unstoppable" IS an extreme.

False.
He's an undrafted free agent because he played in Canada and is just raw, so no team was going to spend a draft pick on him when they could have him for nothing, which is what happened.
Claiming that he can make out offense unstoppable if he lives up to his potential and develops a bit more is not taking it to the extreme because I explained why that would be.

You have to realize that people will find reasons in everything to ***** about. Specially in a place like this.

it is pretty extreme imo... With his size he could be a great addition to the nfl... or he could be out of the league in a year...
Every person that enters the league could be the next best whatever... but the chances are they wont be.

People will also find a reason to claim every schmo on our team (and those we signed 5 minutes ago) is going to blow the NFL wide open and be amazing. Specially in a place like this! Come on, don't you have to admit it's somewhat funny how every year there is some WR who is going to completely baffle every DC and defensive player in the NFL and then he doesn't make the team or DOES and catches like 4 passes?
It does intrigue me that some people get seem to get more hyped the less chance a guy has of making the team, and then they completely forget him as soon as we sign some other guy that probably won't make the team and they start hyping him up. It almost seems like a guy taken in the 4th is a lot more boring than someone taken in the 7th or undrafted because there is that "super secret awesome" appeal.
Anyways, this year Alford and Wright were supposed to be good, but we got Boyd but he seems to get less hype than Core who was going to be THE man across from AJ, but now Core is old-hat because we found a guy who is even less known, even LESS in demand than a 7th round pick, and so on. Also, have we forgotten Kumerorwow...or is he like the red-zone specialist? Not sure what we're predicting for him.
We're getting close to August, so I'm thinking this Simonise guy might be the last "uncoverable secret" WR we get this year. We shall see what happens, but I'm going to wager Lafell and Tate get their respective jobs and we can sit and lament all the 7th rounders an undrafted talent that can blow the NFL wide open because Marvin refuses to play for some middling vet.

Ida know...I have a hard time believing this because it is tantamount to admitting that the Browns are more likely to find a HOF QB by starting 3 or 4 every year than we are because we had Palmer and Dalton while they were trying 27 different guys, each of which has a chance to be "the greatest."

See? There's your mistake. You should get overly hyped by every single rookie player no matter how terrible they might be if for no other reason than to give the rest of us something to laugh about.. How selfish of you to deny the rest of us the opportunity to laugh..
Shame, shame, shame!
I was pre-hyped even before I read this thread.

that's part of it... more so than just ability (lets face it all these guys have talent or they never would get sniffed at the NFL level) you gotta have the mental part of it. And probly one of the biggest parts is just being in the right spot (right team right time) to get your shot and be able to actually do something with it. again my opinion. But im sure most people think PM and TB would have been just as great no matter where they were drafted. But what if tom got on a team where the franchise starter never got hurt. Or peyton was drafted by the browns right when they came back as an expansion team. (if the browns were around when he was drafted not exactly sure... hypo..)
then there is the injury factor.

Good signing. He has some things you like in a receiver, but is raw and unpolished.
See him as a possibility to making the PS. That's about it.

Dude, did i say we are going to have an unstoppable offense just because we signed Simonise?
There is talent with this guys size and ability to go up for the ball. It was a good signing period.
No need to hate on it.

Seriously, the guy is competing for a PS spot, at best.

Random thought here, this guy does have experience returning kicks. Maybe there is some value here on special teams since alford and other have not shown much to unseat tate.

Everyone wants to be the guy that "called it!"
"Oh hey remember when I said T.J. Housmanzadeh was gonna be a stud for us, man was I right, praise me now!"
Also, on top of that, everyone wants to find a reason why this year we will get over the hump. Why they resort to practice squad players to fit the bill, that's beyond me.
