But they might not like Boyd returning punts and taking a risk at injury because of his role in the offense (which I'm PUMPED about!).
I still wish they'd put Gio back there.
Honestly, I wish they'd put Jones back there even if he was on defense for a number of plays because it's only one play.
Teams all around the NFL let their offensive weapons return kicks/punts. Tyler Lockett, JArvis Landry, Tavon Austin, Patrick Peterson (CB), Darren Sproles, Danny Ammendola, Antonio Brown. All of these guys are more important, or as important to their teams but yet their teams let them return punts/kicks. Honestly, If he is the best guy he should do it.

This.
I hate preseason games. They are totally meaningless. Yet I watch them anyway because I have not seen any real football in 8 months.
Although I have a lot of questions about several of our back ups, it is hard to judge how well they are performing because they are playing against other back ups.

For me it's all the WR's not named AJ Green and also how ogbuehi and fisher perform on the offensive line. We've also heard a lot about nick vigil so I'm curious about him at LB as well.
I know it's just preseason game #1 but I'm pretty excited to take it in tonight! Wake up, it's game day people! WHODEY?!
No Injuries (OK, I couldn't resist)
Ced at RT
Westerman at C (hopefully)
Hardison (to verify he is really on the team)
Shaw (Folks are sleeping on dude. He's good)

Of course no injuries but I'd like to see some flashes from several of them. Other players gonna have to step up with all these injuries to starting players.

Of course no more injuries but i have been wanting to see what our new weapons look like, mainly Lafell, Boyd,
Kumerow and Uzomah. This Alex Erickson slot WR also sounds like he has great hands and runs great routes.
Cody Core i think could be great one day and it will be interesting to see how James Wright is coming back from
that injury.
Need the OL to protect the QB and open up holes in the running game as well, Ogbuehi is a guy i will be following
closely at times in the run game. Westerman is another guy i will be watching, nice pick.
On Defense Vigil, Dawson and Flowers, these backup Linebackers have talent, excited to see it.
Of course the backup Ends. Need to see something out of Hunt, Clarke or Hardison.
Deshawn Williams at DT.
Still hoping for Alford to show something in the return game as well.

So who do we have playing TE tonight?
Uzomah and..... Hewitt?
I'm honestly just wanting to see the first team look decent enough and to get a good look at the backups while seeing some enjoyable plays. I.E. Not falling asleep by 4th quarter

Man, i have a tough time calming down even in a Preseason opener watching my Bengals.
BTW, Uzomah has been looking great this TC and is 6'6" 271 lbs. Has great speed for a player his size and good hands.
If this guy comes around look out.

Any other team or any other preseason game, I'm the same way. Tried to watch the NE/NO game last night, couldn't make it past the first quarter. But ANY game the Bengals are playing, including preseason, I'm watching every second and loving it!! I would watch televised practices and weight training in the weight room if it were on TV LOL

What about the little guy 5'9, 180 pounder (can't recall his name) recently signed. He might be a legit returner.

No injuries.
Also to see if anyone can replace Tate on returns.
You can always trust an dishonest man to be dishonest. Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to look out for.

Ah, true. I was so lazy I only looked at WR signings recently LOL didn't consider that DBs often return kicks too, as to HBs on occasion. But yes, I also think McRae was likely who he was referring to LOL thanks for the clarity

I have to be honest, I truly do not liking watching Preseason football. I am just thinking injury etc.. and I can't really get a good feel of how the season is going to go... I do like seeing some of the young guys get in there but I just want to see everyone walking off the field. Preseason is too long I think!

Improved O-line play across the board
Hunt making a splash against the ones
Boyd, Vigil, Core and Fejedelem living up to our hype
Hardison and Williams showing they are worthy of anchoring inside and replacing Gilberry
Wright, Ericson or Kumerow showing strong as legitimate threats.

1. The development of Shaw. Think too many people are sleeping on him and think he can battle for playing time. Also, where does he line up? Nickel CB? Safety?
2. The WR battle. It's up for grabs outside of Green, LaFell, and Boyd by sources (Jim O). Kumerow is a fan favorite. Tate always makes the team. Alford is pushing for ST play and slot time. And so on.
3. Cedric Ogubehi and Jake Fisher. They both need to get reps because after seeing them against the Vikings D-line, I'm a little cautious on how they'll do this year. Was never high on Ogubehi anyway, so I was skeptical. Hoping they get some reps in today.
4. Dawson. I just want to see Dawson play. Period.
5. Clarke and Hunt. You don't need an explanation, you already understand.
