Exactly!  Because of it's national abuse, the FDA banned them.

Hey ole timers, right before they were banned a British version called Mandrix were around for awhile.

Nah, didn't come around our way. When the 'real' sopors went away, so did our interest as the substitutes were nowhere near the same, quality-wise. You didn't know if you were taking elephant tranquilizers. And there were other distractions .....
