Agreed... any word if the Steelers are going to attempt to trade him?  Or, release him?  As bad as Nugent and Catanzaro (Arizona) have both been this year, I would think both teams would be seeking a guy like Bullock that is young, with a strong leg, cheap, and proven at the NFL level.

I do NOT want to draft a freakin' kicker... Aguayo in Tampa has been a joke.  I wonder if he'll be able to hang around through next season in the NFL?

He is clearly done at the end of the year (if they resign him I really will try, try, try to become a spectator of a different sport and quit football for good) but yeah, why not try someone out for these last three games? I get that you want people to sense they'll get to finish their contracts and maybe you want him to have a chance to go out on a more positive note but cmon, you don't get that many chances to audition kickers in front of a full stadium in games with no consequences.

And yeah, the idea that we couldn't do better is a joke. How hard could it be to find someone better than the worst kicker in the NFL. There are tons of unemployed kickers EVERY year. Give someone a shot fer crissakes.

The fact that he's an UFA helps his cause for not getting cut this year.  If he signs a FA contract else next season, he'll count towards our compensatory picks.  If we cut him this year, we get nothing.

One could logically argue this is why they never go anywhere.  Why they have a coach with the worst playoff record in history, who is well into his second decade without a single playoff victory, an owner who also acts as General Manager and is well into his third decade without a single playoff victory.  There are many arguments which could be made.

At this point, specialists shouldn't be drafted high. Aguayo struggling with the Bucs, our very own Mike Nugent was a 2nd round pick of the Jets, and he wasn't anything special there. Then the Jags drafted Bryan Anger in 2012 in the 3rd round. Started off good, but then just became very average and is now on the Bucs.
