Bene' Benwikere

Is the newest Bengal. Former Panther, Dolphin, and Packer. Chosen in the 5th round of 2014. He's a 5'11, 200lb CB who ran a 4.63 at the combine.

Dust off that spot on the shelf, folks. That's a wrap on the SB trophy coming to Cincy. Ninja

Bye bye DreK.

Meh, he's semi-functional, I suppose. That's about how this article describes him.

I guess he'll give us some depth. I don't see him as an upgrade to any of our starters.

More than okay with him signing. He has some talent and we have great DB coaching. He'll at least compete for the last CB spot. After doing a solid job as a slot corner, he was thrust on the outside and getting a ton of snaps after the Panthers let their entire secondary disappear. Then after Julio's near record breaking day Bene got scapegoated and lost a lot of confidence. See now this is a good flyer pickup

Look at him as Chykie Browns replacement. If you do that I am pretty good with it.

4.6?  Isn't that LB speed?  Can he ever be more that a STer?

I would prefer him to chykie though. And u can always play faster than u run ur 40 at.

Fair enough. If it means Chykie Brown doesn't make the team, any addition is hard to scoff at.

He's done well in the slot. His first 2 years he was actually very solid. However, most people are only going to remember the Julio game. Which is fair, but there's more to his game tape.

Young player, and I think it adds depth to when we lose Pacman or Kirkpatrick. Hoping they cut Pacman.

That gives us Kirkpatrick and Dennard on the outside. WJIII and Shaw working as nickel. Russell and Bene as backups. I think we'd be solid. Probably throw in Brown since they seem to like him so much.

I remember him making plays when the Panthers made the SB Run.

He could be a really good addition as our #3 corner..

I don't know what to think of this addition...

We have Pacman, Kirkpatrick, Dennard, WJ3, Keivarree Russell, Shaw and now Benwikere.

I'm guessing this will happen by end of offseason:

#1: Kirk
#2: WJ3
#3: Shaw
#4: Dennard
#5: Benwikere
#6: Keivaree Russell

Or Pacman doesn't get released? I honestly am confused.

Camp body...has to be...right? I mean this guy couldn't get on the field in Green Bay and they have horrible corners. Like the Bodine version of corners. If this is the guy we are expecting to replace Dre K when we cheap out...just ugh...

He was considered an above average slot cornerback before he got injured...

Keep in mind Cincinnati has not shown great judgement when looking at injuries and how they heal, for example Eifert. If the guy was above average before he got injured, why would two teams who really need corners give up on him. Green Bay and Carolina cut bait. If he is just a camp body or a project, so be it but this can not be looked at as the guy we signed instead of Dre.

Yikes. That's slow for a corner. Maybe he could play safety at 200lbs.

After reading the interview with him on the main page, I'm totally ok with this signing. Why not kick his tires? See what he's got. He was good enough to pair with Norman on a pretty stout Carolina D. From the interview, you know he's a smart guy. Guenther said the same.
