Pre-Combine Master Plan
#1
Using NFL Draft Scout for round projections. Maualuga cut. Whitworth spurns the Bengals after getting his feelings hurt and signs with Seattle. Zeitler runs to the money. We move on from some of the oldies like Winston, Peko, Peerman, Dansby, and Gilberry. Kirkpatrick is the only bigtime free agent we retain. Burkhead and Lafell both get more than we are willing to pay.

1. Cam Robinson T Bama 6'6" 310lbs - Deal with it. At 9 overall we take the best offensive linemen in the draft. Whit is ancient, Ogbuehi is not a tackle, Winston is garbage. Our OL wasn't good last year. Do we dump a bunch of money into the same group that just sucked? We kept drafting first round CBs. We can keep drafting first round OL. 3 year starter at LT for the best team in college. Plug him in and let him grow. Our LT for the next 10 years.

2. Dan Feeney C Indiana 6'4" 304lbs - We took the best tackle with our first pick we take the best interior OL with our second pick. C goes from weakness to strength. Ogbuehi is shifted to RG back to where his college career started and we have an entirely new look OL.

2. (AJMC Trade we get a 2nd rounder this year and conditional 3rd rounder next year) Tarell Basham DE Ohio 6'4" 259lbs - The MAC defensive player of the year and Ohio record holder for sacks is a nice consolation prize after not landing one of the top pass rushers in round 1. He supposedly weighs 275lbs and is running 4.6s 40s right now. He has the ability to be the pass rusher we need.

3. Zay Jones WR ECU 6'2" 202lbs - FBS record holder for career receptions and single season receptions. Too good to pass up at this point. Competes for the #2 WR spot instantly.

4. Kareem Hunt RB Toledo 5'11" 208lbs - Well rounded pro ready RB. The next mid round RB to come in and carve out a solid NFL career. Outstanding balance. Instead of Jeremy Hill getting knocked over by the slightest touch we have a RB with good vision and balance that can break tackles.

4 comp. Adam Shaheen TE Ashland 6'5" 277lbs - Gronk sized athletic TE who played a couple years of college basketball and dominated his division II opponents. Ridiculous upside. Strong TE class lets us get a really talented one in the 4th round. If Eifert wasn't made out of glass I wouldn't even look at TE. When Eifert has been hurt our TE play hasn't been anything special.

4 comp. Tanoh Kpassagnon DE Villanova 6'7" 280lbs - If he is still available at this point there is no way we pass. Perfect replacement for Hunt. Raw DE prospect with tremendous potential.

5. Carroll Phillips LB Illinois 6'3" 237lbs - Rough college career for the man known as Wild Man. Had a break out senior year as a pass rusher. Loaded with athletic ability. Not going to be a plug and play LB but given some time could be a very nice piece.

5 Trade our 6th and 7th to move back into the 5th - Zane Gonzalez K Arizona State 6' 201lbs - Go get the best kicker in the draft.

6 comp. Justin Senior T Mississippi State 6'5" 322lbs - Lots of experience as a RT in the SEC. Instead of continuing to waste time and money on Winston get a young guy to backup at T who can possibly develop into a solid player.

6 comp. Joe Williams RB Utah 5'11" 202lbs - Another guy who had a rough college career. Retired his senior year only to come back and dominate after a bunch of his teams RBs got hurt. This late in the draft we are looking for upside. And the reason he is available is because of the red flags not the talent.

53 man roster

QB Dalton, Driskel
RB Hill, Gio, Hunt*, Williams* (Depending on Gio's health Williams could go to PS)

OL Robinson*, Boling, Feeney*, Ogbuehi, Fisher, Bodine, Johnson, Westerman, Senior*

25 on D
DT Atkins, Billings, Sims/Thompson/Hardison (one of the three doesn't make it)

S Iloka, Williams, Smith, Fej

Not a fan of Robinson at number 9. He's more of a Guard in the nfl than a OT. NO thanks!  The rest I could live with beyond a player here or there.

Not a fan at all.

If you want to take a lineman, take the best one (and that's not Robinson in this draft) and if you want to take a left tackle, then take one, not a guy who looks to be a much better fit at OG or RT.

Im not taking the one coming off hip surgery. And im not taking the one who will be a 25 year old rookie. I like Garcia. But he has trouble maintaining weight and jumping from Troy to the NFL is a lot tougher task than Bama to the NFL.

I saw a little survey of 6 NFL execs. 3 think Cam lasts to the middle of the first 3 think he will be gone.

I have written off Ogbuehi at T. Hopefully he proves me wrong. Fisher has LT potential. But I would like to see him lock down the right side. Whit could easily be gone. If we dip in to free agency we will get a Winston or Marshall Newhouse or Roland caliber player. And we know piano man aint developing shit.

A stud 3 year starter in the SEC outland trophy award winner at LT is as close as it gets to a pro ready in this draft. If he is 100% healthy there isnt a more valuable OL in the draft.
