Dalton is far more mobile then people have ever wanted to give him credit for. The read option in the redzone has actually been a really good play for us the last couple season.

Before someone jumps me for "twisting the stats" let me add this.
Luck has played fewer games and actually holds a very slim lead over Dalton in rushing tds per game (.20 to .19)

And Kaep was not a starter for a decent chunk of that time. Still it's a good stat to be near the top of. Definitely helps our red zone offense having Dalton be athletic enough to sneak it in so often

It's worth mentioning too that Cam Newton blows everyone else out of the water in this, and he was a first overall pick.
Luck edges out Dalton in rush TDs per game, and he was a first overall pick.
The Bengals got pretty darn good value in the 2nd round in 2011 given most starting QBs that are "better" than Dalton were all selected in the first round.
The trend might also be moving to teams waiting on QB beyond the 1st round given the success of Dalton, Carr, Wilson, and Prescott and lack of success with most 1st round QBs selected.
The only other good starting QBs drafted in the first round during that same 6-year span: Newton (1st overall 2011), Luck (1st overall 2012), Winston (1st overall 2015), and Mariota (2nd overall 2015). Maybe include Ryan Tannehill (8th overall 2012) in there too but he's been kinda up and down.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

But but Kaep is so gooood.. It must be some misguided hate for the guy as why hes unemployed. lol.
If he could have kept his starting job he might be up there... But he apparently doesn't have the dedication to get better.

Dalton's versatility is a great weapon for the offense to have. It's also a reason that they need to get the O-Line right in order to use it, otherwise he'll be getting blown up on those read option plays.

Also remember that Newton had an offense where they took carries from the RBs and gave them to him.

Almost as good as Sanu throwing the swing pass to Dalton from the 2 yd line and almost getting him killed.

If he didn't try to make that tackle, people would've bashed him for being soft.
The guy with the 106.2 rating was why we were having such a fine season in the first place.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.
