The old woman's son-in-law built a big screen theater in their garage, pretty cool and it can be taken outside when wanted.
They're into fantasy flicks more than anything which doesn't interest me, but the setup is pretty sweet.
I could , if I wanted to put one in the backyard with the lake as the backdrop.. Might be pretty slick if I could get the old woman to go along with it.
Backyard slopes downward to the lake so if we decided to do it we could set up seating for 50 or so people and a big screen..
I'm not sure if I really want to sit there getting chewed up by ants and mosquitoes though. We have a lot of fire ants out there.
Fire ants and football just don't seem synonymous for some reason..lol

I can help you with the specifics, I think I lucked out on the equipment. The screen is $500 (which is a steal, for the most part, cheaper if you go smaller, more like $250-300). It can be set up on EMT pipes and broken down after each play, I built it on an arbor so the wind doesn't affect it much.

I have to figure out the bug problem, too, haven't showed a full showing yet. Test run, didn't have many bugs. I do have a gardener snake in the yard I noticed a couple weeks ago, a circle of life is running around here - bats at night eating mosquitos. I'm not sure if fire attracts or deter bugs, but I have plans for some fire in the seating area.

Thanks! Now to work on the seating area. About to get cold in CLE though so will work on this for next year, I guess, don't have any real idea of how to have a livable area outside during the winter that I could still use!

The bats will help with insects, smoke is an insect repellent, and lemongrass plants are a natural repellant.

Looks awesome.

I'm curious about the green. Man that had to be a little pricey and the upkeep? Well, I don't know?

Its prob a synthetic green, so virtually no upkeep. Still cool none the less.

Silent movies so far, haha! The projector has 10W speakers which are unusable. I'm thinking of building a 3 or 4 season room here and installing Polk Atrium speakers inside the area to try and contain the sound a little bit. I've heard of others using bluetooth headsets, not sure about that though, kind of defeats the purpose of an outdoor area.

I do have to get it maintained once every year or two, they power broom the existing sand and refill it to a stimp about 9.

It's artificial and can hold chip shots otherwise, it survives winters fine with heavy snow, it's probably 6 years old by now. It costs about the same as a higher quality patio over here, $15-17 a square foot IIRC.

I'm running out of landscaping room (well I'm basically out with a 0.25 acre lot), so I'm likely going to move soon, but the first project I do is to rebuild the putting green, maybe not as big/expensive but it definitely sees use.
