Well, I guess mathematics don’t lie? Until next Sunday when we travel to Tennessee. Then? We recalculate.
I somehow think we are all going to be watching an NFL style porn movie in which none of us will be happy!

True. It isn't over until it's over...but we will see. One week at a time.

While I admire this optimism (it used to be me), I will offer this perspective:
This team has zero energy. Even if they wanted to try and overcome their incredibly inept coaching and they took it upon themselves to play a completely different game than they have been offering, there is not one single strength on this team that would lead you to believe that they could go on such a run.
The defense sparked for a short while, and then sucked rhinoceros balls (because they are really big) against pitt, the colts, and the jags. MJ is back at DE for some unknown reason. Willis is getting to play on special teams (Oh, goody...while we watch the incredibly flat Carlos Dunlap play every single snap). Chris Smith and Lawson get a few snaps, but we want to save them for when the season is completely lost apparently.
The offense has one weapon. One. AJ Green. And he sees double teams every snap, and while no one can ever criticize the almighty AJ Green, he does not get open quickly. He is a long strider that needs time and space to operate. He has amazing hands and long speed, but he does not have the phone booth quicks of, say, a John Ross. Without quick targets and with a porous offensive line, you have a recipe for disaster....which is what the offense in 2017 has become, a disaster.
Gio Bernard had one reception for -1 yard and one carry for -1 yard. Here is a second round pick in his second contract and this is the best you can do with him. Mixon is just a bigger version of him. Can't do much when the opposition knows what is coming and where it is coming from. No creativity with screens (hey, we ran one for about 80 yards against the Browns?) and no usage of Gio as a receiver with Mixon on the field as well. Two wasted spots.
The team could absolutely be salvaged with some grey matter and effort. However, the coaching staff have none of that and I would bet my mortgage that they are already thinking about where they can coach next year. There should be lots of openings, and the rest of the league seems to like our coaches...although Marv wouldn't get a job in the MAC.
I am sorry, bud, as I so wish it wasn't the case, but this team has given up and it isn't coming back under these coaches.

All this team needs is a golf clap and a "let's go" and they can beat any team in the NFL 45-0.
And monkeys might fly out of my butt.

You're absolutely right, it has time to get worse.

let go both your locker room leaders and see what happens. Wit and Peko Now Pac man and Burfict. How can you be surprised. Granted I think burfict is great Player. Not a leader or the leader you want in the locker room. On the field yes. Although this year not seeing that either.

We aren't going anywhere without a decent oline and ours hasn't shown any improvements at all. The coaches should've seen this disaster in the off-season/pre-season but they didn't and I don't believe in miracles so our line is going to suck for the rest of the year, which means we will too.
I've said it before on the old forums and I'll say it again here, if you have a great oline it doesn't matter who you have as QB because any NFL QB given enough time can be successful. Same goes with RBs. If you give them holes to run through then it doesn't matter who carries the damn ball. Stop wasting picks and money on skill players when none of them can do their jobs if the line can't do theirs.

I'm pretty optimistic, but there is just no way this year. Our offensive line is the worst in the league(probably).

I consider myself a die-hard and will continue to root for the team but I have almost no hope that they can go on a run. 2012 May as well be 30 years ago, that team was much more competitive at this stage of the season. Last year the Bengals were 3-5-1 and finished 6-9-1, that's a more likely outcome.
I salute your optimism, I wish I had some left, the last 3 games have removed it.

To be honest that's about the extent of my expectations for the rest of the season...whatever our record ends up being I just want some reason for optimism, some spark going into the off season.
Winning a game or two in the manner we did .vs. Colts to slightly improve what goes in the books for 2017/8 is not gonna do it for me.
Heck .....grinding a win over the Brown, Bears and say the Ravens where the run game averages less than 3.5 yds, MJ gets more snaps than the young DEs, Sims gets more playing time than Billings/Glasgow, Lafell sees more time than Malone/Core/Ross is depressing as hell.
I would take losing to the Steelers in a 38-35 slugfest over that....where are least Wjax proves himself again .vs. ABrown, Lawson reminds Big Ben he's gonna be sacking him till he retires, Ross smokes Mitchell on a go route, Billings benchpresses Pouncey backwards.
Those are the guys who can provide the optimism going forward.

Welcome back to the boards, and couldn't agree more.
But unfortunately our GM of the last 26 years disagrees with you, and me, and the majority of this forum ! Most of us knew going in the O-line was the major problem and stated so. It got so very old talking about it !
How team M&M and their sidekick PA, aka Larry , Curly, and MO thought going into this season standing pat on the O-line was a good idea ???
Well really we do know it saves our GM $$$$$$$
Gotta save some rollover money so we can re-sign (let them walk cause they cost to much) our 1st round picks and core players.

I hate your optimism.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!
