Midseason All-Pro Teams - Spoiler Alert Whitworth is on it!
#1
Many Rams are getting deserved credit for their performance this season, including Gurley, head coach Sean McVay and vastly improved quarterback Jared Goff. But let's not overlook the steadying force of Whitworth. He has helped keep Goff upright and pave lanes in the running game as L.A. has allowed just 10 sacks, tied for second fewest in the NFL, and rushed for 131.9 yards per game, fifth-best in the NFL.

Yeah. When I said the Rams were closer to competing than us...I got bashed and told they were farther away and he was going only for money. They're 6-2 and totally turned their offense around in a Year!

yeah, they haven't been held under 10 points one time, while we have 3 times. They're also 10 in the league in second half scoring, while we're dead last by a WIDE margin.

Journalist jargon, I know.

I'd love to see Big Whit win a playoff game, or even more.

Sad that Mikey done him that way

After the Bengals, I always like pulling for teams that haven't been good in a while (Rams, Jags, Raiders, Vikings etc.) Whitworth going to the Rams makes it even easier to pull for them.

They also had a coach Jeff Fisher who similar to Marvin had been their for awhile and was underachieving. They fired him an brought in a young head coach with new ideas and look at the results. Sure new head coaches don’t always work out but you need to be willing to try when what your doing isn’t working.

It's more than the HC though.

They brought in Whitworth and a Center. And 2 starting WR's that are really good.

ie...they added 4 free agents that are good players!

IF we added 4 free agents that I'd consider Good before this season, just think how good we'd be. Instead we keep some of our free agents and let some good. Then, we added Minter and Smith on 1 year deals.

Then we talk about how the draft is awesome and improves us.

Definitely agree adding quality free agency helps instead of relying solely on the draft and 3rd /4th tier free agents. But even if we did add quality free agents I still don’t think the team would go far with this current coaching staff. Marvin has had some stacked teams with very good offensive lines and overall talent and has underachieved time and time again. Need to fire Marvin and sign some quality free agent linemen in the offseason.

I'm happy that Whit gets to compete with a competent organization.

Makes you wonder what could have been had they retained their 2nd best player, fired Zampese + let Lazor install his own offense, and had drafted trenches rather than an end-around specialist and the 2 yards a pop woman puncher.  Ah well.  20/20 hindsight.

Agreed....but it ain't really hindsight for all of us....quite a few on here were calling for Zampese to be fired (I never liked the "hire" to begin with), fix o line, not high on Ross, and not keen on Rocky.

Me too. Rooting for players who have left our Bengals to succeed somehow gives us a little taste of victory. Would like to see Whit get a SB ring.

Really happy for Big Whit!. We can choose to be fans for the rest of our lives, but he only has a handful of years left to play. I bet he is more energized now in his current situation and playing even better than he was here as a result. No doubt he has shared a meal, or at least had a conversation with Palmer, and the two of them can laugh about their past Bengal worries now.

We're not Whitworth away from being competitive.

Honestly, look at my PFF thread. We have so many players that play a lot underpreforming.

Pleased for him...class act.

I do think this also shows the power of the big market and back story though.

He was good throughout but had a couple of years around 2015 where he was as good as anyone in the league pass blocking and it felt a minor miracle he got pro bowl recognition here.

Now he's getting a whole load of press because of their renaissance in LA, McVay, Goff,Gurley - but really he's playing as good as he ever did for us
