By his tone and some of his uncharacteristic actions the last month I agree, he appears burn out, over it and ready to move on.

Many of our challenges lay at Marvin's feet and have nothing to do with scouting or free agency. He is slow to make personnel changes when needed. He is bad at clock management. He fails to make halftime adjustments. He fails to have the team ready to play 60 minutes. He is far too complacent. He is a poor game day motivator. His teams are undisciplined. He sticks with underperforming coaches. And do not try and convince me that Mike forces Paul Alexander on Marvin. He is there because Marvin wants him there.

It is time for him to move on.

Oh, and technically he won't be fired , his contract expires. I hope both sides agree it is time for a change

I agree that I️t will most likely be a mutual parting. Mike won’t fire him per se since he is not under contract. Marvin will be allowed to leave however he decides to label it

Here's a list of players Marvin Lewis has had the opportunity to coach while he's been here. This list contains FA's, College FA's that he has hit gold with, drafted players and player acquired via trade. Marvin has also had coaches that have moved on to become, head coaches or coordianators for other teams. They were mere seconds away from winning a playoff game in 2015 with a back up quarterback. A core foundation was put in place and was lost after the 2015 season. The internal leadership had left the team. No more Zimmer's, no more Gruden's, no more Jackson's and no Joeseph's. I believe the team also lost it's player leadership when Whitworth and Peko were let go. Marvin's leadership on this team is recognized now. The player leadership is no longer here. Dalton, Green, Dunlap, Atkins may be good players but are not great team leaders. No leadership from the coach's on either side of the ball has left this team where it is today. A team that just gives up, doesn't play hard, commits too many penalties, drops too many passes, block terrible, can't tackle. I could on and on. Frankly there is just no discipline or leadership with this team. Anyway here's the list.

The 'other teams with big scouting departments lose' excuse is old...because statistically most NFL teams outside of the Browns and Lions have won 5+ playoff games since we last won 1.

So clearly, the way the league does things is right compared to the Bengals way.

Things like a General Manager, scouts, staffing, free agency are indeed things that teams have that have won a playoff game in the last 26 years.

Losing to Mark Sanchez, TJ yates, Matt Schaub. See last playoff loss due to lack of discipline no need to explain further.
It took 10 years into Marvin's tenure before we utilized the free play that every other team in the league employs!
How has his game management been? his ceiling is bottom third of the league. His floor is worst coach in the league.

Lack of discipline? Maybe that's a result of an owner who signed and drafted every former 1st Round pick with arrests or red flags he could find?

Eh... Marv has shown he is a pretty good coach when the pressure is off, but a clueless nitwit when the lights go on. 

However, I don't know about a super bowl but I do believe Ben Roethlisberger would have won Marv at least a few playoff games. Hey, Peyton manning won a ring with Tony freaking Dungy so I guess it's possible. I believe an elite QB can make any subpar head coach look good (kinda like Ben is doing for Tomlin right now). 

Let's be real, aside from 2005 Carson Palmer Marv has never had an elite QB to mask his deficiencies.

I don't believe for one second that Marv is burned out. People were saying similar crap in 2010. Marv will happily accept contracts as long as Mike offers them.

The fact that he's thrown so many players under the bus this year is just more proof on how much Marv values his job. If he's "tired" of anything, he's tired of not having that extension that he publicly lobbied for back in January. People claiming he looks burned out are just guilty of wishful thinking.
