Want that 2nd round pick for our next Center.
Yeah Allen is certainly a raw prospect. It will greatly benefit him to sit and learn for awhile, but he has all the physical tools you want in a QB. Plus I don't see the team or new coach parting ways with Andy any time soon. Andy has, what, two years left on his deal? I don't see him coming back once his contract is up... Enter Josh Allen. This could be a perfect scenario for all parties involved.
It's hard for me to not see our next coach want to take his own QB. I would love to load up on Olinemen all draft long but I strongly believe we will be taking a QB at some point. Might as well grab one early on that has a real chance to have a career in the NFL, and not some camp arm in the later rounds.

I fully expect the Bengals to draft a half eaten bologna sandwich with a side of onion rings with our first round pick.
At least then Marvin may pay attention to our first round pick, unlike this year.

Oh god, not Baker Mayfield. The guy is Johnny Football-lite. he reminds me of a cross between Manziel and Philip Rivers, but not in a good way.
I wouldn't mind taking Lamarr Jackson.........in the 3-4th round. He's a Mike Vick, from the hood. The kids got all the talent in the world....
But, I wouldn't take any QB, cuz QB ISN'T this team's problem! Fix the O-Line first.
Fix the O-Line.
Fix the O-Line.
Fix the OLINE!
oh, so we should take a QB? What? No, fix the OLINE!
Oh, so we should take a mobile QB? No!!!! Fix the OLINE!
Oh, lets take another WR. NO! Fix the ***** OLINE!!!!
so, what are the Bengals going to do in the 1st round this year? Draft anyone NOT from the OLINE. Guaranteed!

That'd be the one......Johnny Fartball 2.0.

Lots of great points Pat, not a bad idea to have a talented QB for the future learning behind Dalton that is, if we
get the Center position taken care of. Have to have a pocket to step into. FA will have to be used to open up the
draft for something like this to work though.
Get Jensen the Center in FA, draft Quentin Nelson G Notre Dame and this might work.

This makes MUCH more sense, ergo, it won't happen.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, let's replace Dalton with a worse, inexperienced version of himself?

Lol that's what I was thinking. Short guy? Average arm? Happy feet?
At least Dalton can read defense, has great anticipation, slightly taller and isn't running from police and pointing at his %$#@.
Then again...Dalton did have that video where he undressed in front of the reporter and gave that pervy look to the camera.

IMO, Rosen is far and away the best prospect in this class and the rest have some major warts and look like 2nd round prospects at best. (I'm sure some will be over-drafted)
I only want to move on from Dalton if we can find an elite type. An Aaron Rodgers. Do any of these guys look like a future star? Maybe Rosen. Good luck getting up to that top pick though.

Yeah I doubt it too. But, with the job security a coach gets here...IF they didn't like the roster they could blow it all up. Be bad for 3 years then start competing and likely have 5-6 years of employment no matter what.
I think that would be a terrible course of action though...but with most of our core approaching 30 years old. It's hard to say.

Imma just put this here:
https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/gallery/nfl-quarterback-career-record-ranked-win-percentage-starts-051917
#6 - Andy Dalton: 56-35 (.602)
(Note: this was before the season)
(2nd note: Dalton a top 10 QB? Hmmmmmm?)
(3rd note: I gotta take a dump; just thought y'all should know)

Yep. And the same team that drafted a guy that punched a woman in the face may be drafting him.
Im sure you root for Mixon on Sundays though, right?

Unless Mayfield can ditch his frat party and trolling porn stars on Twitter ways......I would too. Dude has Manziel written all over him at the moment.

So based on that logic, Joe Flacco (.602) is better than Drew Brees (502).
OK.

The comparisons to Manziel are dumb. Mayfield is so much more polished and suited for the NFL than Manziel was. He also doesnt come with half the baggage that Manziel has.
I love Mayfield. The dude is competitive as hell and doesnt take shit from anyone. Would be a nice change of pace from Andy "im afraid to mess up" Dalton.

QB is the face of your franchise. How many QB's in the NFL do you see acting a fool like that?
How many have stories of them running from police? How many point at their junk after a big play? C'mon now.

I don't think it's that dumb, but to each his own. Dude has some maturity issues to overcome, and I hope he does. Manziel got a lot of that baggage in the pros. Maybe if he had gone to a better organization to help guide him, he could have turned out better. I don't have that much faith in this clown show, so Baker would have to make those gains on his own.
There are some other QBs I'd be interested in, but Mayfield may not be best suited HERE.
FWIW, I predicted Manziel's swift fall before he was drafted.....not that I'm Nostradamus or anything.....but Mayfield gives me a lot of the same reserves I had about Fartball.
