They have to trade him to avoid a qb controversy. It's almost certain they won't put that pressure on Wentz next season. Foles is as good as gone. If we are hoping for anything higher than a 4th for McCarron, a team would be foolish not to just ship that to the Eagles for much more proven Foles.

Foles looked good yesterday and hit on all cylinders. Both QB's could be traded this offseason. I still think Cleveland needs to consider a seasoned starter at QB. Maybe the Eagles trade Carson Wentz for pick 1 or 4 to Cleveland. Wentz may object to going to the black hole though.
Foles playoff passer rating (122.1) is nearly double what Mac did (68.3). Foles hasn't turned it over in 2 games. Mac turned it over twice in 1 game.
Trying to equate the two is silly.

1. Jags - Would Jags be getting ready for the Super Bowl if Dalton was their QB versus Bortles? I say yes as likely would have won home field advantage.
2. Bills
3. Jets
4. Browns
5. Vikings - Definitely Dalton over any QB on their roster to go with that great defense.
6. Cardinals - Palmer retired
I wish that great defense would have shown up yesterday, the Eagles are one of my least favorite teams.

Bengals held onto McCarron so long that even if he does get RFA status, he'll be worth significantly less.
FAs:
Drew Brees
Jimmy Garoppolo
Kirk Cousins
Case Keenum
Sam Bradford
Josh McCown
Trading Block:
Alex Smith
Tyrod Taylor
Jacoby Brissett maybe? (When Luck is back.)

None of those guys probably cost you a 1st or 2nd round pick like the Bengals apparently wanted for McCarron. (On top of the big contract they'd have to offer him to sign him away as a RFA.)
Then you throw in the draft and how there will be probably like 3-4 guys taken in the first round, and there's honestly not going to be much of a market left for McCarron.

Agreed. Wentz is their guy, and they will most likely reward Foles by letting him be a starter elsewhere next year. They're not going to have SB hero sitting on the bench putting pressure on their franchise guy. Can you imagine? The first INT Wentz throws would be met with chants for Foles. Foles is automatically a Philly legend now, and all that hype from the 27 TD/2 INT season is back with a vengeance.
The only way they could keep Foles around is if Philly loses BIG and Foles plays awful in the SB.

I've heard this "AJM has no trade value" somewhere before and it was proven wrong; I just cannot remember where I heard it.
As to the OP: I'd take Foles over AJM. Dude looked legit yesterday and Philly now has a good problem.

Plus, there's absolutely no way the Eagles trade Wentz and keep Foles.

I dunno. If Foles manages to win a SB, I can't see any way they can trade him. Their only out there would be if they could go to a consecutive SB with Wentz, otherwise it's going to be 'you traded the wrong guy.'
Granted, I don't think it's an issue as Brady's deal with the Devil doesn't expire until 2020, so Foles and Wentz and the Eagles can all do whatever makes them happy.

Probably not. Unless Foles wins the SB and lights it up, winning SB MVP.
Even then, I still doubt it, although it'd make for a very interesting sitch.

I feel, that like Case Keenum, Foles will come back to earth. They may still win, but Foles looked like shit against ATL, and Keenum looked pretty good against NO. They seemed to have switched roles a week later.

Drew Brees - Staying in New Orleans
Kirk Cousins- Biggest free agent out there will be expensive
Jimmy G- Franchise tag
Case Keenum- Franchise Tag
Sam Bradford- top Backup money bridge starter to do injury history
Josh Mckown- Back up/ Bridge starter maybe
Alex Smith- 1st and 3rd
Tyrod Taylor- Backup/ Fringe starter
Jacoby- he has two years left on contract staying put unless great deal happens.

Bortles played a great game yesterday. What on Earth are you basing the suggestion that Dalton would have played better on? His 4 playoff choke jobs?

Good point, and , in my opinion, a big reason guys like Keenum and Foles tend to end up as backups that get a lot of attention. They can look godly against the right defense, and look like garbage the next week against a team that's not as good. They don't have that consistency against a majority of teams. Belichek will pick Foles' game apart.

Foles had a passer rating over 100. I have experience seeing what shit looks like in a playoff game and that was not it.

Jimmy G- Franchise tag Which means the 49ers wouldn't be interested in McCarron.
Case Keenum- Franchise Tag I doubt they'll want to pay Keenum $23.3m
Sam Bradford- top Backup money bridge starter to do injury history You are underestimating Bradford's market. He had a 101.1 QB Rating with the Vikings in 17 starts. He will be a starter somewhere.
Josh Mckown- Back up/ Bridge starter maybe Probably a bridge starter for one of the draft picks.
Alex Smith- 1st and 3rd I think he goes for less than a 1st and 3rd. He has only 1 year left on his contract.
Tyrod Taylor- Backup/ Fringe starter In an NFL where Mike Glennon got $15m/yr, someone will trade for Tyrod. Don't forget the Bills team around him was really really bad.
Jacoby- he has two years left on contract staying put unless great deal happens. That's why I said maybe and threw a question mark.
I also forgot to mention that Teddy Bridgewater will be in FA, too.
The point is, between the FA class, the couple guys on the trading block, and the impending draft class, there's really not going to be a ton of openings left, which means the market for McCarron (again assuming he gets RFA status) won't likely be all that hot. The Bengals are going to tender him at least a 2nd, and whoever signs him will still need to offer him a big contract. Other guys could be had for just the pick, or just the contract, so having to spend both for a guy who isn't proven probably isn't the most appealing of options.

If he's still under contract for next year, it would allow them to dangle him for a nice booty. Providing he does really well in the SB, they need to play their cards right and make sure someone else gets Flacco'd, and not them.

Macaron will have his options it's not like anything has changed on perception of him as a QB. Are there more guys out there sure but at the same time if a team believes that he is there guy they will still look to trade for him. I see him getting plenty of interest this season.

Against ATL? Did you watch the game? His numbers were pretty good, but he was missing throws, throwing ducks, and they scored a whopping 15 points, and he had no TDs. I will say, he did settle down in the second half and went from shitty to good. Still, his performance against MN was worlds better than it was against ATL. I mean, I don't know where he finished, but at one point, he had a perfect QB rating in the NFCCG.
Good thing for him (and the Pats and Darth Hoodie for that matter), Doug Pederson is no Mediocre Merv. Those darn journalistic jargons strike again.

It is just my opinion based on how he has played since 2015 in the regular season. I know many in here think AD is garbage, I think he is much better than Bortles and Keenum and others starting in the NFL. I think AD on Jags this year would have meant a Super Bowl teaming with their suffocating defense and running game. But again, just an opinion.
I am so ready for 2024 season. I love pro football and hoping for a great Bengals year. Regardless, always remember it is a game and entertainment.
