How good was Bengals '17 draft.

Most people claim our '17 draft was a disappointment because our #1 pick did nothing.  But overll we had 6 draft picks who played over 25% of the team snaps (not counting special teams) Lawson 42%, Mixon 40%, Glasglow 36%, Willis 31%,  Evans 27%, and Malone 26%.  That is very rare for us.  In fact it is the same number from our last 4 drafts combined ('16 Boyd 68%, '15 Kroft 33%, '14 Hill 47% and Bodine 100%, '13 Bernard 54% and Eifert 59%).

I think most fans see Lawson and Mixon as being top level starters. 

I think Josh Malone will be a solid starting NFL WR but that is just specualtion at this point. 

I don't know if Glasgow, Willis, or Evans will ever be top players but I think they will contribute a lot in rotation.  These type of players are important because it takes a deep roster to win consitently.

If Ross develops into a starter then '17 will be considered one of our better drafts in a long time. (Especially if you count the starting PK for the Eagles)

I even still have hopes for Brandon Wilson.  He might be able to stick on the roster because of his return skills

Believe it was a very solid draft class that could become a great one if Ross becomes starter.

If we continue to address OL early in draft believe Mixon is in for huge years.

Gio as well but obviously he is not from draft class.

Ross could be the icing on an already good cake though.

The "good" news is, it's almost as if the Bengals get ANY contribution from Ross, then it would be icing on the cake.

To early to tell. Not to bad so far though and I have high hopes that Ross will recover and Mixon will be the back we think he can be.

I didn't think we had a bad draft at all, in fact I thought we had a very good draft all the way through.
Yes Ross didn't get a chance to perform but to get Mixon, Willis and Lawson who I think will be extremely good players was a great choice by the organisation

I'm not sure who "most" are, but it doesn't include me. I'm thrilled with Lawson. I think Mixon will have a big season behind an improved line (he averaged over 5 YPC after the scheme switch), and I still have high hopes for Ross and a few others. Plus you can't fully judge a draft class for 3-4 years.

Very true, yet already like the preliminary results of this class and do not even know how our first round selection will turn out. 

Excited at the possibilities and a big fan of Lawson as well. 

Believe Mixon will be a special talent too. OL was so bad early it is hard to judge him fairly imo.

If Ross can get it together this will be a very good to great draft.  I look for Willis to become a good player.

And I would love for Brandon Wilson to become the ball hawking fs we seem to be clamoring for.

All the ones who played gave at least a glimpse of why they were drafted. Be interesting to see what kind of jump they make this year. If they can take the next step, we might have a team on our hands. Who knows? Maybe it goes on to be known as that legendary '17 draft.

I think Willis and Malone will surprise a lot of people, especially Malone. I was a big fan of his in college and was ecstatic when we drafted him. I liked what I saw in the appearances I saw him last year.

Like the others have already mentioned, it's a bit too early to tell. But, as far as I can tell, the early returns look promising. The '17 class appears to be blowing the doors off of the '14 and '15 classes, in comparison.

It was a good draft imo. Lawson could be the star of the draft. Hopefully Ross does ..... something.

As of now I don't think it was good or bad. We could of done better 1st round which would of changed tfhe draft. I like Lawson but he's only a pass rush specialist we could of had Barnett. I'm not crazy about Malone I like some guys in this draft I'd like to draft for receiver.and mixon he seems good but we also could of got other backs just as good or better. And don't know if mixon will be injury prone and I think Willis will be good just needs playing time.

If Ross turns into something, special. I think it was solid though. Lawson and Mixon were steals. I think they will develop into high quality players with the level of talent they possess.

I think the disappointment to which he was referring applies to Ross. Given the hype/hope of what his speed could do for AJ and the rest of offense, his inability to get on the field was disappointing - even after cleared healthwise.

The reason as to why Lawson was there in the fourth round was due to questions about his ability to set the edge and hold up against the run.

So if Ross produces this year and Lawson bulks up (and does not loose burst and flexibility), then we would have walked away with three legitimate first round talent in 2017. Willis, Evans and Glasgow are the icing, in my opinion.

Yeah, it was a good one. Still have really high hopes for the ones that didn't contribute as well.

Hope this Draft is as good. Ross and Wilson namely. Think Ross will shut up people this season and Wilson will surprise and be a stud ST'er.

Wasn’t a fan, but it’s looking better in hindsight. Still probably best to give it a season or three more to see if we’re getting back into drafting form.
