QB- Andy Dalton, AJ McCarron
RB- Jeremy Hill, Gio Bernard, Rex Burkhead, Cedric Peerman
WR- AJ Green, Marvin Jones, Mo Sanu, Greg Little, Mario Alford
TE- Tyler Eifert, Tyler Kroft, Ryan Hewitt, CJ Uzomah

ST- Clark Harris, Kevin Huber, Mike Nugent
CHANGES MADE
Tate removed to free up roster spots
Hunt released
Carter Moved to LB
Hardison and Still added. Clark takes over as backup left DE, Hardison may also see reps at DE
Uzomah kept for development, but please note that this guy may go to practice squad
Have them keeping Flowers at LB depending on injury
Shawn williams released in favor of Shaw / Hall getting reps at Safety.
** Some things Im thinking about changing is dropping Uzomah to keep tate or posisbly bring in another return specialist.
** Also I think Chris Lewis-Harris has potential to stay on this roster after 4th preseason game and again may take #53 over uzomah depending on special teams.

It's not about hating on Peerman, dude is pretty good overall. But does pretty good make it ?
And I don't think Hunt offers enough to cut a younger possibly better player to hope the light comes on with him. He has no technique besides the overpowering bulrush. And when he gets there he doesn't know what to do, his football instincts are weak.
I think some fans forget we have 3 units
Defense
Offense
Special Teams
Peerman is a starter on special teams and our special teams captain. So, these young RB's have to be able to replace Peerman on special teams because if Gio, Hill and Burkhead are healthy, they likely would not be active on game days unless they also become very good special teams players.
There are many special team units so Peerman would have to be replaced on multiple special team units and that is not easy to replace in my opinion
I am so ready for 2024 season. I love pro football and hoping for a great Bengals year. Regardless, always remember it is a game and entertainment.

Which would be Hardison which I guess you missed lol.
You move Deshawn Williams to practice squad and we lose him 100%. No chance this guy doesn't make another team.

That's what everyone keeps saying...but the facts are while has had a good pre-season and I'd very much like to see him as a Bengal he's still an undated free agent that was a backup in college...hard to say if as fans we are overvaluing him.

How can you overvalue someone who has played well ? He has shown more than Devon still, Margus Hunt, or Brandon Thompson. Regardless of if they were drafted and he wasn't or if he was a college standout. You can only go by what you see on the field and obviously being in our locker room has brought out something in this guy.

It all comes down to team needs right? Besides Dunlap hunt is the only other LDE on the roster Gillberry can't play it and Clarke has taken very few snaps on that side in a base defense. Gillberry is an inside pass rusher at the 3-tech and a very good one. Both Hardison and Sims can play both tackle spots on all 3 downs...Peko and Geno are starters...makes room on the defensive line tight. If they go light elsewhere hell yea on Deshawn Williams but if only 9 spots are available you have to go with the 1-techs.

I think Clarke has shown better a LDE and even Carter was taking snaps there last night. Hunt never looks good to me. I wouldn't be surprised if you see clarke and Carter listed as backups at LDE and Gillberry/Hardison listed for RDE with Carter filling in there as well. Sims is a better version of Thompson and Williams looks to be a better version of Gillberry if he keeps heading in the right direction.
Of course the simple answer is cut peko, but the power of the force prevents it.

I would be very surprised if Carter is listed as DE since ML has stated all summer he is a LB and not a DL
The fact you are comparing a rookie undrafted player Williams (who I think belongs on the PS) to a proven veteran who plays DE and DT and not just DT gives me the impression you analysis is severely flawed.
The reason in my opinion is you hate Hunt and lost your objectivity saying anything to support your argument Hunt is garbage.

Carter is not a defensive end he is a linebacker catch him on run downs and he's gonna get run over ( does happen look at Gillberry getting caught at tackle a few times last season after a team coverts a 3rd and long). Clarke has played very few snaps at LDE in the base defense. Hardison is going to be the backup DT and looks like he's gonna get quite a few snaps during the season at both tackle spots.

I think DeShawn Williams would clear waivers so that we could sign him to the practice squad. He has not been that dominating this pre-season.

Even if we keep 10 D-linemen they won't all be active on game days. And if you keep Chris Carter then you have to have him active on gamedays. So that makes it tougher to keep Carter as the "10th D-lineman".

What do you call someone whose best contribution is lining up in a 3-point stance at the end of the Defensive Line of a 4-3 Defense?

I'm sure he might be able to bring a little something to the Special Teams as well. Most likely something Carlos, MJ, or Gilberry do not.

Someone playing a niche role? Did he play a single run down all night? I don't think he did...Shawn Williams lined up as the nickel linebacker does that make him a linebacker? Margus Hunt and Gillberry lined up at Tackle this preseason does that make them defensive tackles? No....
