A friend of mine, with connections in Columbus law enforcement, shared a little insight with me. Courtney Smith might just be bat-shit crazy, and stretching some stories. At one point, she had called 911 a total of 66 times in a 90 day period of time. She had been pulled over for driving under the influence 3 separate times, only to be escorted home, due to her status as a coaches' wife. Each time she claimed that Zach was chasing her, only for it to be discovered that he was actually at practice.
There likely is no Title IX violation, as Courtney Smith wasn't a student or employee of the university. The only real thing in question is a potential violation of Ohio States own sexual misconduct policy, and as it turns out, OSU AD Gene Smith was fully aware of the troubles between Zach and Courtney Smith, back in 2015.
Looks to me like the OSU administration is the one who dropped the ball on this one.

The thing I am having a hard time understanding is why Urbz kept him on the staff post 2015. I read he told Zach if you ever hit your wife, you're finished. So that means he knew that threat existed. Why put yourself in that position? I somewhat get him lying to the media - not something I like, but I get it... personal life things should be personal, and they specifically asked about an "arrest" (splitting hairs here). I can give him a little slack for that, though he probably should of declined to answer the question vs lying. Either way, Meyer does share some "suspicious" decision making.

The investigative committee will present findings today. Board of trustees will meet Wednesday morning to discuss Urban Meyer situation.

Following this I'd seen this on an osu message board and knew that it originated from a message board post somewhere but didn't realize it was my old buddy sunset that had posted it initially.
That makes it resonate with me all the more, cuz I've talked with you many times over the years and I've never known you to post bs for attention. I could be wrong, idk you except on bengals boards. But I believe you here for sure. And more reports since you posted this add even more validity to the notion that courtney I'd a slightly unreliable source to say the least.
Urbz aint going nowhere. Nor should he.
Being a Bengals fan is like being in love with a narcissist. It's a brutal, emotionally abusive relationship but I never leave and just keep making excuses for them.

Same at Penn State, and look what happened to Joe Paterno.

I think the difference there is that Penn St and Joe P. were part of a coverup of something terrible happening right there on campus in their facilities or at events. And then not reporting it to the police, regardless of the chain of command.
The alleged domestic violence between Smith and his wife happened at home outside of OSU, that Meyer had no control over in allowing or preventing from happening. Sure Smith should have been fired back in 2015 at the latest or at least forced to resign, dude is a sleezebag. But that isn't enough of a fireable offense for Meyer imo. And lying to the media isnt a fireable offense either, otherwise there would be a lot of vacant head coaching spots.

Yeah....but ol' buddy was banging the staffer on OSU campus....although not the most egregious defense.
According to what I have read regarding Joe P., he and staff notified PSU admins about the Sandusky situation while Sandusky was a member of the staff.....which led to his "retirement". As conditions of his retirement, the PSU administration granted Sandusky use of the PSU football training facility. Supposedly when it all came out, Paterno wanted to know who in the hell gave him access to the facilities. It was the PSU administration, not the coaching staff.....so that's what my comparison was in regards to.

He got off with a slap on the wrist IMO. This is not a good look for him or the University. Personally, I would of said half a season and probably dock his pay to a DV foundation. Kinda disappointed in this mess.

He could of easily been fired IMO had it not been for his outstanding winning percentage. All but guarantee you if Urbz is even average he's fired.

I kind of think Urban should have been shitcanned. I'm an OSU fan by marriage and would hate to see him go, but he massively screwed this up.
Smith was a first class piece of shit, regardless of whether or not his wife was an drunken psycho, too. Garbage human being. Meyer put his loyalty to Smith and Earl Bruce ahead of Ohio State football. Smith never should have been in Columbus to begin with. He should have been out after the Florida incident. He wasn't even a good WR coach. Fans hated him before this incident even came to be known. Just a sad example of nepotism run wild and loyalty to a dead man wrecking a legacy.
Ohio State football would continue to be a powerhouse minus Urban Meyer, no matter how good he is.

What's really sad to me, is that the college world is all up in arms about this, but the coaching and training staff at Maryland killed a kid and no one is batting an eyelash.

Can't believe that anyone there still has a job. I'd have bet a paycheck that they were going down.
