One other thing I want to mention about Andy Dalton that I haven't seen mentioned all that much - he was at every single game (both at home and on the road) after his season ending injury. A lot of players wouldn't necessarily travel with the team in that situation, but he did. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, but that tells me that he's a heck of a leader and a real team guy.
Meanwhile, Tannehill's so bad that apparently that's the go-to explanation for how Adam Gase got another head coaching job already - "Well he didn't have a great record at Miami, but he had Tannehill..."

You make two good points here.....and I'd add that Dalton had an earpiece in to listen in on the communication, and would immediately get with Driskell and Lazor after every series to go over what they were looking at on the tablets. There's no question he's a great teammate.

Ditching Dalton for Tannenhill would be a great way to F-up what has been a pretty good off-season, so far.
It would be enough for me to totally ignore the Bengals.

Even if I assume everything you posted is 100% correct what difference does that make to the topic of the thread?
I’m a dalton supporter but I wouldn’t mind trying to replace him. Tannehill isn’t an upgrade though unless as someone suggested we get him with picks that we can use to upgrade elsewhere.

Justin Herbert, Jake Fromm, and Shea Patterson next year...Jacob Eason is a transfer that could put up big numbers at Washington.

Dalton would get us too many Ws for a good pick in the draft to get the necessary QB of the future where as tannehill sucks so I’d understand the move if we got some assets in return

They only way I could get on board with this is if we got a bigger return trading dalton and we drafted a qb next year or got Lawrence the following year.
Otherwise I ride with ad until his replacement is here

Tannehill is not great and too costly.

Tannehill for Dalton no way.
Tannehill plus a couple of high draft choices for Dalton yes.
We are heading into a rebuild stage. I do not agree with those who think we have a strong roster and are only a couple of players away. Cleveland and Baltimore are heading up and the Steelers are the Steelers. Both our o line and linebackers are awful and that cannot be fixed in one year.
The new coach will want his own QB if they can get that person. Both Dalton and Tannehill are/would be bridges to the new guy.
Absolutely false, no way in hell.

The Bengals made the coaching change they made (firing Lewis and seemingly hiring Taylor) solely due to attendance concerns. If you thing they are going to willingly tank, you're nuts.
And they shouldn't, either. If you want Lawrence, fine (I sure do!), but don't throw away a year or two to get there. Get creative and start stockpiling draft picks for 2021 *now* (you could swing your current first rounders for the same picks in 2021 IMO), then package all those picks you have to move up as high as you can if you want him, because someone will bite for multiple picks in the 1st. Tanking is stupid and is probably the #1 reason I can't stand the NBA any more.

As a back up, sure. Wentz/Foles scenario. Tannerhill steps in and wins the playoffs and Superbowl. Perfect! (circa 2018-2019)

Andy Dalton is a selling point to potential coaching candidates.
Tannehill isn’t coming here.

Yep. Who wouldn’t want an average quarterback who folds in prime time. Great selling point.

The team was 4-1, at one point.
All of those players are still on the team.
Barring injuries, this team does NOT need a total rebuild.

1. There's nothing to the rumor. Just a reporter trying to connect the dots and come up with a spicy story that generates clicks.
2. If people think Dalton sucks on deep balls, Tannehill will show them what true suckage looks like.

Here's where I am.....and it's not that hard to do.
Also, Goff looked like hot dog shit one year, McVay and staff (which our rumored HC was a part of, obviously) comes in, and he's going to a NFCCG two years later. The team was built to succeed around him. Let's see what the guy can do.
Tannehill? PPPFFFFTTTT. Landry sure likes his change of scenery.

I don't see the point in this unless we are moving Dalton to a win now team for picks. If Taylor comes here and alienates Dalton for Tannehill it'll look like McDaniels wanting Cassel over Cutler the second he arrived in Denver part 2.
Even if Dalton could fetch a 1st I see us keeping him and letting him walk as a FA for less.

1. Dalton has been fine in prime-time since the 2.0 game, which was 5 years ago.
2. :giggle:
