I know they get an extra year of control but dammit they need Senzel for the first few games. Am I misreading this or what? WTF.

Did he win a starting position?
I'd like to see him get regular playing time in the majors if he is ready, but I don't know if we "have to" have him for the first few weeks.

BTW this is a stupid rule that needs to be changed.

He's not into starting rotation but I think the reds need his bat in the lineup to win some of these games early. Yes it is a stupid rule and should be changed.

Disappointing, but not surprising.

I heard on the news that senzel's agent has been speaking out about this and how it's going to do hurt the reds in the future in terms of their relationship.
I thought Irving had a better spring personally but I also think they should have just kept sensel unopening day starting roster because he is there centerfielder and I don't even know if there's another center fielder on the team after schebler.

The extra year of control may end up being huge and can go either way. I don't see it as a slap to the face considering how player salaries can often price teams like Cincinnati out of the market for talent . If when he does end up on the big league team and has a ba around or over. 300 he'll likely be gone to FA anyway. If he holds a grudge over it it'll be pretty petty..
The truth of the matter is he really is untested at CF short of a single ST campaign which ain't much . There have been many many players over the years who played their hearts out and really struggled to reach anything above AA level . Senzel is no more entitled to a major league spot than anyone else not to mention the team is currently paying a lot for 3 outfielders also hitting over .300.
Now with Ganett injured he may end up playing 2nd base playing the infield where his talents may be put to much better use than CF.. The jury hasn't come in quite yet on this case.
