First Down Markers
#1
So during the game there was a play where Baltimore was just shy of the sideline marker on 3rd down.

The commentator proceeded to claim "They place those markers just past the line to gain so the players will reach for it, that will be a first down".

NEVER have I heard anythin so rediculous, and yet they measured it and gave Baltimore the first.

They need to let the rest of the league know about this, as they have the chains lined up PRECISELY with the point of the marker in Detroit.  Just as it ALWAYS is.

I believe that what they meant is that the sticks are lined up on the far edge of the orange first down stripe, rather than beyond it. This is at least how they are in the game going on right now.

Well that makes more sense than what the guy said during the telecast.  Thanks for clearing that up JC
