Cubs and Reds split the series. Look, the Cubs are a First Place team with pitching, hitters, a great manager. I know it's a tough game loss, but Reds did NOT lose this series. Reds are 4 wins, 2 ties and no losses over last 3 weeks.
Go Reds in next series. Still a lot to like in this Reds ball club.
I was hoping for more out of the bullpen, but you never know what will happen when you go to the pen. That Reds reliever in 1961 who wrote the book, " The Long Season ", tells how some games you come in and have it, and some games you don't. He said no telling why that is, but it just is, over The Long Season. It wasn't that long ago Lorenzen pitched a great inning and then in outfield made a circus catch to bail out Iglesias. Hoping Lorenzen gets out of this mini slump.

I'd take Riggleman over Bell without thinking twice. Hopefully Mahle adds a lot to the pen, they need it.

DAVID BELL IS AN ABSOLUTE PUTZ!!!!!!!
Notice how we were better during his suspension? His decision making is a joke. What manager worth a damn would still be running Votto out there day after day without ever having a day off and, to make it worse, insist on batting him in the 2 hole? Bell stupid-ed today's game away. Castillo would have gotten that last out.

I'd even take the guy sitting next to Bell.
It's a cumulative effect. All those games all year where he yanked his starter after five and now the price is being paid.

Cubs players were hitting Castillo hard toward the end of the inning. I have no problem taking Castillo out at that point but Lorezen has been over used.
Also, Angel Hernandez has been horrible over the years. I do not understand with today's evaluation of Umps how he is still behind the plate. I am not making excuses for the Reds because the Cubs had the same Ump. Nevertheless, Hernandez strike calls (which some were clearly if not egregiously balls) could affect certain players more on a team.

I agree 100% on Riggleman over Bell.

He would have gotten one more out and he would not have given up a three run homer.

Bell's best work came right after he was hired when he brought in the pitching and hitting coach. Those guys have made a difference. I'd take Riggleman if those two came with him.

I know that Votto gets some bad calls but the point is that he seems consumed with his OBP. He does it with 2 guys on or the bases loaded too. Every strike that he gets isn’t out of the strike zone! Why leave the outcome in the hands of the umpire when there’s ducks on the pond? I don’t care if he wants to be the walk king when nobody is on. I’d bet that he leads the league in taking strike three and leaving runners on base, it seems like it anyways.

Votto is a Red for 4 more years. Hope the last two years are not indicative of the next 4 years.

The thing is that if he wasn’t so passive that his year would be somewhat passable. I look for him to be about as bad the next 2 years and then the Reds will make him a platoon player for the last 2 years. If he finishes that many more years like that, all of his percentage stats will go down and he might miss the HOF.

If he was batting seventh, I could live with it. But he comes up too often with guys on base to have less than 40 RBI's. The numbers don'r lie.

The Reds will be a better team next year. The pitching staff will be the same or close to it, depending on Wood. They can work on the bullpen in the off season, the young guys will be a year further along and they hopefully won't dig such a hole to have to climb out of.

I’m gonna try to find out how many LOB and take strike 3 he has. I think he’s been terrible in those areas.

Agree, they're going to have to admit it and make the move. At some point it has to be about the team and not a single players pride.

I hate strike 3 looking anytime. Strike 3 looking with runners on 2nd and 3rd and less than 2 out infuriates me !!! Swing the damn bat for crying out loud.

That is a good sign. Lets hope the punisher gets back on track,,,he has been slacking off the last game.

House should know that Votto can't score on that hit. Just plain dumb.

Why in the Freaking Hell would you send Votto with the punisher coming to the plate? Why? Why?
