Glenn, although that doesn’t fit the bill here pay say either since he wasn’t a FA.

I don’t mind it if his heart is in it. I don’t know if I want a disgruntled AJ mad he didn’t get “his deal”

Doesn't change my point, with his injury history and age he's not a reliable long term option. Maybe the details of this visit change the outlook on his ankle but if he's there because there're still issues with it, he's a huge risk to take.
I'll be 61 in July. I'd happily sell my right or left nut to be 31 or 32 again.. Getting old isn't nearly as much fun as seen on TV.

And he'd be upset at getting the franchise tag after missing a season and a half why exactly? We should all be so upset at that kind of money. C'mon.. He'd be thrilled to get that money and the chance to prove himself in 2020. If he, for example gained over 1000 yards and caught 10 TD's what do you think his value would be in 2021? Less for more? Oh sure..in some alternate universe where real production is frowned upon vs just doing nothing.

If they tag him and AJ is mad about it, he will play his heart out in order to get a deal elsewhere. What's he going to do, go out there and stink up his audition for teams he is trying to prove he is healthy to? Win Win....

Maybe take the franchise money and ride off into the sunset. 18 million is a pretty good severance package.

He's not looking for 18 million, he is looking for his last big deal.

While this is true the Bengals are the only team who will give him that contract and then only after his franchise tag prove it year. AJs only way out if he doesn't get the contract he wants is to do in 2020 the same thing he is doing now. The Bengals are over a barrel. If they franchise him then he may not sign the tag(18 million frozen in case he signs) or end up paying a disgruntled player who has no interest in being here. The team needs to evaluate the amount of guaranteed money they want to risk and make him an offer. If he doesn't sign let him walk.

He quit on the team because he is injured. Now he is disgruntled and doesn’t want to be here because he said he would sign his franchise tag and play?

So what you're saying is...it's not bad enough that Dre sucks on his own...he also prematurely ended AJs career?
Way to go Dre.

I have no idea. But his remarks around “protecting himself” makes me wonder if he’ll do what’s needed for the team to succeed; Be a a leader, be involved with the offseason workouts, soft stuff like that that helps build a team faster. He’ll go out there and play hard, but from his remarks he doesn’t sound like he’ll go the extra mile to help move this team out of this shithole they’re stuck in

From his comments after Brandon Lafell was released I seriously doubt AJ Green has ever been a locker room leader. Elite level player and hard worker but It didnt sound like he goes out of his way to help anyone.
