Please tell me that the coaching staff knows this.
I get if they start him for the rest of the season just so we can either get a higher draft pick or, maybe, MAYBE, he actually grows into a backup QB. But EVERYONE can see that Finley RIGHT NOW is not even an NFL caliber QB, let alone a backup QB.
Personally, I'd rather they re-sign Dolegala off of NE's practice squad and start him or bring up the QB from our practice squad and just roll with him.

I am confident that, by the end of the season, Ryan Finley will be the sole owner of the worst career QBR in NFL history (minimum of 200 attempts or so).
That is if we even allow him to start the final 6 games haha.

Why would you care about Finley playing backup QB in a lost season? The best this team can do at this point is 8-7-1, which will not make the playoffs. May as well start trying to get the best draft pick possible, and Finley is probably the best candidate to help get the team that best draft pick.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

If you still find a way to care about this organization, you have to care about this.
They can lose - nay, they WILL lose likely every remaining game. But they have to at least look respectable. The numbers of every one of our offensive players are going to plummet. The franchise, which is already the bowl under every toilet seat sports journalists sit on when they have to take a dump, will be even further damaged by a winless finish with an average margin of defeat of 24 points. They have to at least try to improve this miserable brand and running Ryanfinley out there does the opposite. He's horrible.
If you see something suspicious, say something suspicious.

Of course they know that. He’s a starting QB now

They won't look respectable.
Yes, numbers will plummet. That's what happens when you have less talent at QB.
But we may need it to happen to finally see Taylor and his staff out the door.

I’m interested to see if they still run the heavy pass offense and make him throw from won’t sets majority of the game.
If they suddenly have a power running scheme then the question is where the **** has it been all season?

Not only is he not a backup QB, he's not an NFL QB. Not a 3rd string, not an "emergency", not even a practice squad QB. He's pure garbage.
Every year you'll have backup come into the a game out of nowhere and do pretty respectable.
Take Gardner Minshew last year, who was drafted in the 6th round, in the same class as Finley. He gets thrown to the wolves as a rookie after Nick Foles goes down. Guy throws for 21 TD's and 6 INT's in only 12 games, and has a 91 QB rating.
Now he's an extreme example, but there's plenty of others. Take at a look at Garret Gilbert, who was signed off the street by the Cowboys a couple of weeks ago.
The guy was coming off playing in the AFL. Dallas was the 7th NFL team he had signed with in the last 5 years, and he had only made 2 of those teams (they rest were practice squads or waived in camp). He had six career attempts in the NFL. SIX.
Well guess who Mr. Gilbert has the luxury of playing in his lone spot start of his career? The Pittsburgh Steelers. And gues what Mr. Gilbert's stat line looked like?
21-38 for 243 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT, with 3 rushes for 28 yards. (Not too shabby)
He kept his team in the game and they put up a respectable performance, losing only 24-19. And that was after leading at the 1st quarter 3-0, after the half 13-9, and after the 3rd 19-9. They were winning that entire game until 2 minutes to go. The guy almost beat the undefeated Steelers. Now he'll go back to never being heard of again.
Finley being so bad is not only an indictment on him, but even more on the coaches. 1.) They drafted him. and 2.) They can't even make him look remotely useful. They can't hide any of his flaws, or draw up some plays to protect him.
Ryan Finley and the performance in the 2nd half should tell you everything you need to know about Zac Taylor and Co. They're all bums.

His arm is his only real failing; he holds on to the ball for too long too, but that can be mitigated for the most part, so long as you aren't taking sacks and fumbling.
But his arm is just awful, terrible, terrible, terrible.
How many throws did he have that landed 5 yards in front of the receivers yesterday? I think I counted 4, but I may be off.
Between the preseason and yesterday, you can see he doesn't make bad decisions when throwing the ball, but his arm is so terrible that the best decisions in the world won't save you, when you can't even throw it 15 yards correctly.
For that reason, I think Finley would make a good coach/instructor, but as a QB in the 2020 NFL, he doesn't have the arm talent to do a damn thing.

It's not about this season, it's about the future. Getting a high draft pick, yes, but also backup QB is currently a need. If Finley is starting these last few games, then he needs to show he's capable of being the backup QB because so far he's failed worse at that then Zac has at being a HC.

The Bengals can address backup QB in the offseason based on how Finley does. They don't need to try to find a backup QB now with just 6 games left.

Yeah, but the 70's porn stash was mesmerizing the defenses. You're right about Finley though, I suspect we will be seeing our Covid QB soon.

Not from FA, but we do have a QB on the practice squad. Finley has shown so far he doesn't even deserve to be in the league. Let's try the practice squad dude. See if he can at least be a backup for us. If not, we'll still lose like we will with Finley and get a high draft pick. But, if he shows he can do the job, we will have filled one of our holes and can look to fix our other issues.

I didn't realize Brandon Allen was still with the team.
One has to assume he'll be activated so they have a backup QB ready for gamedays.
But I wouldn't get too excited about Allen either.
In 3 games with DEN last year, he only had a 46.4% completion percentage.
Finley actually had a higher completion percentage last year in his 3 games (47.1%).

Another notch in the fire ZT now board.
Finley should never had made the team this season but ZT wasn't willing to admit defeat. A fatal flaw

I don’t think they do. If I remover correctly, we traded up in the draft to get him. Not sure you do that for a practice squad QB. But this is the b gals anything is possible.
