Dehner's way early 2021 projected roster
#1
He starts off with the premise that the coaching staff remains essentially intact based on past Bengal FO decision making. He went 2 deep so obviously there will be more players

Offense
Quarterback
• Projected two-deep: Joe Burrow, Andy Dalton
• Displaced: Ryan Finley, Brandon Allen

Running back
• Projected two-deep: Joe Mixon, Giovani Bernard
• Displaced: None

Wide receiver
• Projected two-deep: Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd, Josh Reynolds (UFA), Auden Tate, Mike Thomas, Day 3 slot WR pick
• Displaced: A.J. Green, John Ross, Alex Erickson

Tight end
• Projected two-deep: C.J. Uzomah, Drew Sample
• Displaced: Cethan Carter

Offensive line
• Projected two-deep: LT Jonah Williams, LG Quinton Spain, C Trey Hopkins, RG Joe Thuney, RT Penei Sewell, LT2 Hakeem Adeniji, LG2 Michael Jordan, C2 Billy Price, RG2 Xavier Su’a-Filo, RT2 Fred Johnson/draft pick
• Displaced: Bobby Hart, Alex Redmond

Defense
Interior defensive line
• Projected two-deep: Leonard Williams, D.J. Reader, Mike Daniels, Josh Tupou
• Displaced: Geno Atkins, Margus Hunt, Xavier Williams, Christian Covington

Edge defender
• Projected two-deep: Sam Hubbard, Carl Lawson, Khalid Kareem, Carlos Basham Jr.
• Displaced: Amani Bledsoe

Linebacker
• Two-deep projection: Logan Wilson, Germaine Pratt, Josh Bynes, Akeem Davis-Gaither, Markus Bailey
• Displaced: None

Cornerback

• Two-deep projection: Trae Waynes, Mackensie Alexander, Desmond King, Darius Phillips, third-round pick, Tony Brown
• Displaced: William Jackson III, LeShaun Sims (he says Jackson is the biggest question mark. Team will want he back but at what price)

Safety
• Two-deep projection: Jessie Bates, Vonn Bell, Brandon Wilson, Day 3 draft pick
• Displaced: Shawn Williams

Specialists
• Starters: Clark Harris, Kevin Huber, Randy Bullock
• Displaced: None

Without a coaching staff change, we'll probably win 6 games.

Is everyone sure the Patriots won't franchise Thuney?

It's going by the premise that the Bengals would do anything right much less anything at all..and I'm not sure Andy would want anything at all to do with this mess..
No mention of "displacing" anyone on the coaching staff? They should build a brand new railroad just to ride them out of town on..at least everyone not named Simmons.

They already franchised him this year, so the price would jump up even higher the second time.
So they probably won't franchise again, but they will probably try to extend him before FA starts.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Hope he’s right. I’d be stoked with that roster turnover.

Coaches on the other hand.... we need new coordinators minimum

Double Franchising a guy is, what, 20% higher than the franchise price tag? So that tag would probably end up costing them about 17 million dollars.

It's not out of the question, but that's a very high price tag for a guard.

If that was our roster I’d be very happy.

It's interesting. People see 2.5 wins and they just assume the roster needs more talent added. And it certainly does.

But, coaching is the huge thing. IF the Steelers staff were here, we'd be such a better team.

A guy like MJ wouldn't be out there week after week. They would have tried Finney or other options.

I'd put the chances of Andy Dalton returning at .01%.

Nothing matters if this coaching staff remains relatively intact. Nothing. Just another wasted year. Fitting for a boob GM who cannot be fired.

Indeed. And it's really disturbing to me the reports that some of the coaches weren't coaching technique.

I heard a Steelers player talking on the radio a few years ago and he was talking about how a young player would be struggling and a coach would give them 1 or 2 cues. Like line up a foot more outside. Or do this with your hands. And bam it would really click for that player and they'd become a good player!

So it's hard to look at some of our guys that are underperforming and think they're terrible. IF they had better coaching, maybe they would be.

A guy like Sample was surely drafted too high. But he's graded fairly well for blocking on PFF. He had decent catch stats against Miami. Now, could he be sent down the seam and catch 20 yard passes from time to time? Hard to say. They don't use him that way. They use him like a 6th lineman and then sneak him out after he blocks for a 3 yard catch when no one covers him.

Finney's been on the COVID list.

Did he factor a salry cap reduction for all teams down to $175 million? He may have as adding Thuney will be a lot cheaper for any team in 2021 than it cost in 2020. I would love Leonard Williams. Geno saves us 9 million in cap money if cut and 14 million if traded. Hart saves us 6 million if cut. Gio in my opinion at 4 million savings in cap either needs to be cut or salary reduction of 1.5 million due to lower cap in 2020. I hope we can keep Jackson, but at the right price. I also think Sims at a low price should be kept and developed. Josh Reynolds does not do a lot for me, I think there are 20 of him in rounds 4 through 6 who would be a lot cheaper and with more upside.

I love the Sewell pick and love Basham in round 2. No way AD comes back to Cincy in 2021 in my opinion, I would tell Cincy fans to KMA for teh lack of respect he was given.

I am so ready for 2024 season. I love pro football and hoping for a great Bengals year. Regardless, always remember it is a game and entertainment.

I just don't see Dalton coming back to the Bengals new coaching staff or not. Only way I could see it is if literally every other team refused to sign him as even a 3rd stringer. And I'm sure SOME team will offer him at least a primary backup role.

Hart as a 3rd Tackle might be ok. Jonah seems to get dinged up a lot so keeping him around for $6 million might work IF we draft Sewell.

Watch the Bengals extend Hart this offseason and pass up Sewell at 3 for some CB.

I like the lines and TE. Linebacker and Corner are weaker but you can only do so much. It would generally be a move in the right direction.

Can we really afford to add Thuney, Reynolds, Williams, Basham and King? That new Oline would be incredible.
