On the plus side, we're all going to be able to tell our grandkids that we lived in a time where major brands were named "Indians" and "Redskins" and they're probably going to think we are totally badass for that.
"Chief" is a title, you are correct. But, it is, and has been, also used as a slur. Redskin originally referred to Native Americans that covered their skin in red clay, but became a slur.
As for the "white man" comment, most of the Native Americans I know are not happy about the name changes.
