Given that the tag is the average of the five top prior year salaries for players at a position, I'd imagine it could easily jump to $15+ mill in 2023 if we start seeing a few more guys sign deals for $15+ mill a year.

Thanks for the numbers on this. I’m just waiting for someone to call me out for not knowing the details and making the claims I’m making lol. I certainly don’t think they should tag him any more than once (if that). Hopefully it all works out and we lock up Bates for a long long time.
