Yes it does.  That is exactly what it means.  He does not appreciate the fact that this season could be our last chance to win it in a long time.  He "takes it" (believes), as "granted" (true) that we will have just as good of a chance to win it all over the next few years as we do this year.

I notice you have repeatedly claimed that you know what the term means, but for some strange reason you have refused to give any sort of definition.  Instead you just say I am wrong because you say so.  I find that an interesting way to try and prove a point.
