I've been playing guitar since 2008 I believe.
I know you are looking for electric, but the Seagull S-Series acoustic guitars are amazing for the price!
You can get a right handed one for around 300$ USD and a left handed one (I'm a southpaw) for around 400$ USD.
And they sound almost as good as a Martin, for way way cheaper.
