The thing that bothers me is Bates is capable of playing like this, so what's his excuse when he doesn't? I know he made the statement about being in a funk, but I think any contract he gets ought to be incentive laden so he continues at this level of play. (And for those that struggle with comprehension, none of that means I don't want him re-signed. I do.)
