I think Joelist made a valid point.  Professionals who go through rigorous vetting is the way to go. How do we know if the phantom hold ref didn't have a betting interest and a huge load riding on a Rams win or maybe is a fan of LA ?  How much vetting is done on these guys?  How do we know how objective they are?
