WR3 cannot make $10M, RB cannot make $11-13M, FS can not make $16M - despite how good they are or how much fans love them.
Not one of these is a Top 3 priority position on their side of the ball.
Offense: QB, WR1, Oline, WR2 - thats it - RB, TE, and WR3 just need to be pretty good.
* Give a great QB plenty of time to throw to 2 great WR's with other options being decent.
* Make holes for any decent running back.
Defense: DE, CB, DT maybe 1 LB - FS, SS, other LB need to be solid but not stars.
*Rush the passer
*Stop the run.
*Defend dangerous WR's
This is the formula to win championships nowadays, in my humble opinion.
Great post. This is why I am okay with the talk of letting Bates go if we have to and I am open to trading Boyd if we have to.
Sucks but we have to keep all our options open in order to protect Burrow and get our running game tops.
