It actually doesn’t. They could have spread that money out more on a long term deal.

Anyway, I was curious how long it’s been since we re-signed a tagged player, and apparently you have to go all the way back to Rudi Johnson.

History is always important context when discussing the #Bengals, even with recent moves outside their tendencies.

This is the 8th time they've used the franchise tag, and only once before did they sign the player to an extension in the same year (Rudi Johnson 2005).
