SI.com - FA OL Scheme Fits

In fact, that is one of the toughest jobs in scouting, and a big reason a lot of free agents don't live up to their contracts.  But it can also be a great way to find a "bargain".  Most scouts can watch film and see how a player produces.  It takes a lot more skill to watch film and project how a player will produce in a different scheme.

You see it the most in O-linemen and defensive backs.  Those are the positions wear production is most closely tied to the specific scheme.

Absolutely correct. That's why it's usually safer to look at players in very similar scheme to yours that have succeeded there.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!
